Anyone know what exit paths to the industry have good work life balance?
I’m a senior associate in corporate and partnership in a public accounting firm in nyc. I noticed my client contacts from big corporates and partnerships are frequently working till midnight and also over the weekends. This makes me feel like it’s no better than staying at big four but I must wrong otherwise people wouldn’t leave.

Leave NYC, move south, preferably to Charlotte or farther south. Life moves slower down there and people spend more time out of the office. It will be rare to find a work life balance job in NYC

TA1, feel free for DM me. I’m currently in Charlotte, relocated from NY/NJ, and been here at both the Big4 and regional firms.

Following cus I’m in the exact same boat.

Well it depends on the company that you move into and how you maneuver yourself. A lot of companies look for people with a big 4 background and not all of them work throughout the night (except maybe during busy season).

The FI tax team at Crowe is always busy like that.

OP, I worked at Big4 in fin services in NYC and know how terrible the hours are there. Industry is not much better either. I know manufacturing companies, like pharma, have good WLB but you lose on the pay side.

What is a typical team structure at MBB for a large corporate strategy project ? For example, portfolio review and growth strategy for group of 3-5 businesses on public holding company. Would that be team of 5? Team of 10? And how involved are partners on a project like that (e.g., more a member of team or more a stakeholder)?

I don't like my job, the responsibilities and tasks aren't right for me or my lifestyle.

Key positives for my current employer are pay and security. But my new role within the company isn't working for me, and ultimately I don't think it is for the company either.

A much much smaller (20 people) company offered me a role.

With the global economic situation as is, is it worth the risk to change to a job I know i'd like more with less pay, and potentially less job security?

Junior here. How common is it to be nudged off a brief when you can't get ideas through internally? My partner and I are often put on the same briefs as more experienced (sometimes senior) teams. As a result, their work tends to make it through to the client presentation while most of ours dies somewhere along the way from CD to CCO. Is this worth worrying over?

Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.

Although Amazon has instituted a hiring freeze and layoffs are probably on their way, I went through the loop for a security engineer position at AWS. Before I attended the final interviews, Amazon placed the hiring freeze and called me to ask if I wanted to go ahead or cancel my application. Tech company lay offs….are they soon to be inevitable?!

There is lots of companies really taking a hit in the tech space. Is this something that people are nervous about? Many seem to still be having a hiring push but with the button falling (IMO this is still just start we have a long way to go to bottom out) will that halt and layoffs ensue? And if so, which depts do you think will get hit the hardest?

Anyone have insight to what the plan is at UpStart for example?

That 50/50 company then owns 70% of holding company they own all the real estate as a partnership that the original partners are 35/35 and the investors own the remainder.
