Anyone know what % of r1 applicants get an interview invite from Yale SOM? And what % of those eventually get in?

Hey There, I'm Dan, a 2016 Alum from SOM. My recollection is that the selectivity for R1 is slightly higher than that of other rounds, though not too much more than R2. So if you're deciding on whether R1 or R2 is for you, and if you think you can develop a better app with more time, definitely do R2 - I was R2 and glad I waited.

Thanks Dan!

Acceptance rate is 23.7%. I don’t know Yale’s specific situation, but a general principle is that top schools with invite-only interviews will interview about 2 candidates for every spot. So you can probably assume that they interview around half of applicants

Anyone have experience with a required on-site final interview for a fully remote job? I'll have already had an interview with the hiring manager and a teammate and a presentation of a case study. So with some of the team being fully remote and the role I'm interviewing for being fully remote I'm not sure what I should prepare for the on-site. I really want the role and want to respect their process but it's hard to justify visiting (across the country) and getting time off my current role.

What is a good interview answer for leaving a job after a few months when the real reason is that you’re sleeping with one eye open in hopes of not being on the chopping block after two rounds of massive layoffs? Company culture is at an all-time low, and it will only go down from here from what I’ve seen in the short months I’ve been there.

I’ve been at my clerkship for 5 years (4 with a different judge) and one with my current judge, and I heard horrible things about him before starting, but I assumed they were exaggerated. Turns out they’re all true, and I’ve had to start therapy to deal with him and the incredibly toxic environment. I’m trying to get out ASAP b/c he also has a history of firing clerks without cause or notice, but I think I’ll only be able to give two weeks notice if i get the job I’m interviewing for. Thoughts?

Paid, fulfilled on spot. Of course you have to do the work, but the days when you feel like giving up, remember why you started

I’m interviewing for a newly created position, Assistant Director of Communications & Outreach in my organization’s DEI office. This is the first interview they have requested after reviewing my writing sample. They didn’t say who specifically I would be interviewing with, but said “members of the DEI staff”, and it will be virtual.

What types of questions outside of my marketing/communications background should I expect?

This is a legit question so don’t hate me just trying to understand if it’s worth it or not. What is the draw of applying to M7? I understand elite status, but based on research the median total comp for an M7 grad is 185k as of 2020 study (2019 data) and the average age of the students in these programs is 27/28. I know going to MBB they have pretty specific comp coming out for M7 grads but outside of those three firms, what is the draw? Trying to justify spending 200k for a degree.
