What is the transition feasibility from in-house counsel to law firm. Really want to go into litigation. No bites on my apps. But randomly got something for an in-house counsel position where I’d be making $40-70k above an associate position. And that range just depends on the firm. Conflicted here. I am currently a criminal defense attorney with 1 year of practice from an office that provides great experience.

Usually these posts are people saying how they are leaving consulting and going to industry. Well, I have hated industry and I’m headed back into consulting 😂. Headed to a cool digital agency that will remain nameless. What a crazy twist of fate. Thanks to everyone who has answered my DM’s and chipped in with advice. This is a cool space / community.
Is anyone working as an Oracle Consultant contractor here? If yes, how did you get into it? Any advice for me? Also, what are the rates you charge?

My parents were super conservative with my dressing when I was growing up. No dresses showing legs. I’m super resentful of this and feel like this is how they controlled me. Now I’m a grown married women with a child and my mom still imposes her cultural standards /limitations on me . She won’t go anywhere with me unless I wear a long dress /cover legs and if I visit her-it’s a big fight. The only thing is that she helps me so much with my toddler and kind of need her help.

Managing partners: do you believe that the attorneys who rely the least upon their legal secretaries are considered more “self sufficient “? My colleagues are so tired/defeated - they stopped commenting on staff workflow issues and just put out the fires as they come. My MP suggested that maybe they are more “self sufficient” than me. At the time I nodded my head and accepted it… but I don’t think I’m unreasonable. When did the industry become okay w/ less than acceptable work from secretaries?
Anyone know of good resume writing services?
I have two job offers: one that’s good for my soul and one that’s good for my wallet. Which one would you choose?
I'm an ID Associate with over 5 years of experience in a major market. Over the last couple of years I have strategically taken on work that would theoretically give me a chance at getting out of this hellhole. Soon, I have a second round/final interview with a boutique firm for a commercial lit/transactional role at a very significant pay increase. It's taken me a long time to work up the nerve to apply for this sort of role, and I'm so close I can taste it, but imposter syndrome is setting in.
What were you told during the interviews with your current firm that ended up being false/a lie?
Any Amazon corporate/in-house counsel here? Do you have any tips for those of us who apply?
I am currently a gov attorney at a major metro area in the northeast. I recently received an offer from a ID private firm (1900 billable hours) in the area for about 40k more than my currently salary. I was going to accept, but now I’m having second thoughts about leaving a secure gov job with good benefits. Really not sure what to do.
Hi all, someone posted on here that Jackson Lewis has got some wonky mechanics re their billable hour req and bonuses. Could someone please share some of that info here? Thanks!

What’s the best way to excuse yourself from the office if you have interviews lined up all week? I can only have so many vet appointments…
Hi everyone! I posted about this previously, but need guidance on how to handle. I work at a small firm who hired an office manager about eight months ago (manages two staff members). She does not have a college degree, obviously did not attend law school. When they hired her, one of the partners told me they paid her a salary which was only 10k less than mine, an associate attorney practicing for 4 years. They treat her like gold and act as if she can do no wrong. Cont…
What was your narrative in interviews for wanting to leave biglaw? Presumably you didn't just say I hate working 60+ hours per week in a disgustingly inefficient, top-heavy organization.
I have an interview scheduled for an in house role. Turns out this company may be a client of my firm, although I’ve never done any work for them and the responsible partner is some person in another office that I’ve never met. Is this situation kosher or is there some sort of conflict?
Is it unethical/improper to have my current firm try to match a lateral offer? I like my current job at my midsized firm, but I know I can make more in big law
Hello, first time posting on here. Any colleagues in here work in house at a Private Equity company? I am wondering what the going rate is for AGC role. The firm has roughly $8 billion in assets. Let me know your thoughts, thanks.
Maybe it’s the pandemic, maybe its the lack of social interaction, and inability to go out on the weekend. But lately I’ve been having tons of anxiety.
The firm is great. I’m being paid above market rate, no cut (yet), still have my perks, but these emails I get from one of the managing partners gives me anxiety. To be fair, I’m probably overreacting. But when I get emails like I’m disappointed, I have to rewrite this, oh this is wrong w this. I get super anxious and annoyed
Hey everyone. I’m currently working in public interest & making about 60k. My job gives me retirement & health insurance. I’m also in the loan forgiveness program. An opportunity to go into private law for 60-70k WITHOUT insurance or retirement has arisen. It’s potentially a partnership track & I was told that it could be “worthwhile for me to take a risk” and go into private. I wanted to gauge what those in private practice thought. It’s a small firm. Would the switch be worth it overall?
