We are considering helping our in-laws buy a house, which will double as an investment property, but we are not liquid enough to fund the whole payment ($250K) in cash right now. They will put in their own payment of $250K. We would like to avoid co-signing for a mortgage with them and fund our part of the purchase a different way. Any financially savvy ideas out there? For context, we have no consumer debt and combined annual income of $500K.

My spouse and I recently adopted an older shelter dog (Carlotta). Some of the other MDs at my hospital were putting together a "Dr. and Dog" social event, so I took Carlotta.
