Go if you want to grow!!! Stay if you’re ok with stagnant and status quo, which is ok - it’s ok to work to live instead of living to work!!
I lateraled from labor and employment ID to labor and employment at a big law firm. It was the best decision I ever made. I really like the team that I work with, things are way more organized, I have more resources, I handle more complex cases, and I make more than double what I used to make. Also technically my billing requirement is 50 hours less than at my ID firm, but it's big law so I'm sure I'll still be billing more 😅
OP can I ask how you obtained the offers in commercial/biz lit? Similar to you, I work in ID and love my firm and colleagues. I’m on the firms complex litigation team, so I handle the firms most difficult cases, but would like the income boost from lateraling to biz law. Just concerned they won’t be interested given I primarily handle catastrophic injury/wrongful death. I’m just starting to put out feelers and applications.
