Anyone live in Vancouver, WA? I’m looking to move to WA but looking for alternatives to Seattle that will allow for less traffic + easier access to mountains and trails. Vancouver’s proximity to Portland seems like a good middle ground, but curious to hear everyone’s thoughts. Thanks!

Do you have to commute anywhere or remote working?

Office is in Bellevue, but I am fully remote. Maybe very occasional trips up there.

That’s a long drive for Bellevue.

Pdx is an amazing airport, Portland is a great city on the down and out ATM (food scene is still great), and Vancouver is suburby and center right. The location has benefits and drawbacks. There's great access to the Columbia river gorge and mt hood. I like the area but if I had to choose, I'd pay the taxes and live in Oregon but I've got nostalgia for Portland from 5 years ago

Issaquah, Mt. Vernon maybe?

Echoing what others have said - Issaquah, Mount Vernon, Bellingham. I'd definitely check out Vancouver to see if you like the feel of it. In Oregon, you might consider Beaverton or Hillsboro.

I am on an engagement that has 2 managers. I enjoy working with 1 manager. He is very understanding and provides feedback/guidance. However, the other belittles me. She is constantly asking “why” and even when I am not sure of the response she keeps pressuring. She provides no actual information for me to learn from. Not sure if I should correct her on how she should speak to me. Or if I should jump ship & ask not to be on this engagement. still new so i am not stuck on this team yet.

I’m relatively new to PMing, and have a manager who has his hands very full dealing with org-level changes. I’m unable to find solid ground because of these changes, and unable to get the support I need as a new PM because he’s so busy.

I’m not sure how to get to a place of confidence in my work - find support elsewhere? Apply to switch products to something less important but more stable? Share with my manager even though I’m dubious he’ll support me? Apply out?

Looking for any advice!

Biggest pet peeve in the office? I’ll go first. I’m really sensitive to scents so I hate when people eat lunch at their desk. It’s even worse if I’m a new employee, cuz it’s like, are you on lunch or are you working?? Can I ask you a question or not? I always take my lunches away from my desk and other people who didn’t volunteer to smell it. Anyway though. What bugs you?

Can we do a quick round robin of salaries for folks in the Seattle area? Currently making $146K at Starbucks. 32 yo woman. Yes, I know the comparison game is unhealthy, but my hypothesis is I don’t make all that much compared to others which might justify why I am not motivated to work beyond 9-5pm. Former consultant here who took a pay cut so am looking to NOT grind.
