Anyone lived in NYC before? Would like to know the equivalent neighborhood in London to NYC. Thanks

I haven’t lived in NYC but am a Londoner so can give a summary:

* east London (London’s fields, Bethnal Green etc) - hipster with cool restaurants, coffee shops and bars. Down to street vibes
* Liverpool Street / Bank etc (ie square mile) - financial district of London. Well connected to the rest of London and heavily populated with suits and plenty of restaurants and bars
* Canary Wharf - an out-of-the-way financial district which is built for offices. Dead after 9pm when everyone moves to the city or goes home. Weekends is busy with mostly young families
* London bridge / southwark - great restaurants and typical London sites (borough market, Tate etc). Great place to stroll along the river and gets very busy, especially during the summer and Christmas
* South Kensington / green park - posh. Very posh. Home to Harrods, the queen and the natural history museum
* Mayfair / Bond Street - again, pricey with nice restaurants
* Notting Hill - an upmarket version of east London that gets very touristy and busy on Saturday when portobello market is on. Feels more residential
* belsize park, regents park and St Johns wood - green and up market areas with a more residential and village (ie not a city rather than the area in NYC) feel
* Euston / kings cross - near the stations is quite dodgy but angel is awesome with huge amounts of restaurants and mixed crowds. Camden is Uber hipster, young and touristy

Sorry for the long response - hope it’s helpful

What about West?

Canary wharf for Manhattan should be the closest?

Nice one. Central London has hardly any high rises. It isn't even closem

Live in nyc now as a Brit. Which neighborhood?

Like 1)Columbus Circle, 2) Hudson yards, 3) Hell’s Kitchen, 4)west village, 5)east village, 5)LIC

The mappings don’t really exist due to completely different make-ups and architecture but Clerkenwell/Farringdon or St. John’s Wood has elements of west village in it, Shoreditch = east village, your others you’ll find familiarity in Notting hill, Kensington, Chelsea, which is probably why so many Americans move there. Brixton is the safer and more gentrified Harlem.

Finally found a provider who listens and is helping me get ADHD controlled. Also diagnosed me w/anxiety. Treating w/Adderall and Wellbutrin, but she's telehealth so can't prescribe anymore. Was transfering Rx to my PCP under her guidance but my BP was high at my yearly (was a particularly stressful day at work, BP was normal the last 3 years). PCP won't coordinate care until I see a cardio. Anxious something will be wrong and I can't be treated for ADHD anymore 😩 anyone else here w/high BP?

Also, my first time H1B stamping is in February 2022 (after which I plan to return to the US) and so I am not sure if that will negatively impact the H1B appointment. Can someone please advise?

I’m currently in a traditional agency but want to have a better work life balance. What’s it like being a copywriter in the tech industry? Do you still feel like you get be as creative?

Any United health group remote employees here? I recently accepted an accounting job and some of the onboard makes it seem like I’m only allowed to work from my home office. I usually spend a few weeks a year out of town visiting family and work during this time so I don’t have to use PTO but I’m nervous I won’t be allowed to do that anymore

Everything ok in there??
Fine🐻...just checking.. 🐾😂

Idea: the market is so starved for associates right now that I am not sure firms can do anything if large numbers of associates work from home 2-3 days a week. They can’t afford to fire us. Let’s unionize!

I'm looking at applying to MBB (Preferably BCG) for a summer internship this summer. I'm a first-gen Oxbridge student, and while I have little experience in consulting along the lines of MBB, I did work in the city last summer as an sustainability consultant.

I'm curious how important it is to have a referral etc and what you'd recommend for applications opening in jan. Any advice is super appreciated I don't have any connections to the industry but it's something im interested in.

I’m in PwC US right now but looking to make the jump to the UK. wondering if anyone can provide insights to this or general career advice on moving from the US to UK?

As someone who is not from the UK but lives here, seems like the focus of the COVID conversations boils down to ‘protecting the NHS.’ Shouldn’t the NHS be protecting us though? Sick of lockdowns and there doesn’t seem to be a significant difference in long-term outcome anyway. I feel that we need to be given a risk rating based on certain factors and those in lower risk categories should be allowed to go about their lives and run the economy as usual. Tier 5 sounds awful - I oppose it. Thoughts?
