SO and I have a $260k combined total comp and are investing/saving ~$130k a year

No target figure yet, just in accumulation phase. Given our lifestyle goals and the fact that we want kids, the target figure is probably somewhere around $4-6 M.

We make about $300/yr and save about $120. We also have a 15yr mortgage so paying down the house really quickly. Otherwise life is good; we don’t need to worry if we run over budget each month, (used) to go on sweet trips, and have a few luxuries to enjoy. Target number is $5M by 50, but we may exceed that handily at this rate.

Thanks, wish you well! I make a plan for savings per year to hit a NW target for FIRE, test that savings # with Monte Carlo or firecalc, then feel free to spend or save the rest once the goal is hit each year. Keeps it simple

My net worth exceeded my total lifetime earnings at around age 32(about $1M) and this year at age 36, I exceeded $2M...my girlfriend earns almost twice what I do($140k) and she is now trying to reach FI...I think I can help her do it more quickly then what it took me...it will be a fun experiment. So I define FI a little differently than most...but I think once you get to a “FI-RR”(financially independent-internal rate of return) of a positive number...you are pretty close. Once you can use your net worth to calculate a lifetime stream of payments at the relevant blended TIPS bond rate(hypothetical TIPS bond ladder), then you have definitely reached FIRE...but you probably should stop doing things you don’t like for money way before then. **FI-RR is only relevant if you have built your net worth through W2 income and not gifts or inheritance...it’s just an IRR solved by using current net worth and past monthly average Medicare earnings from your social security statement.**

I am in my early 40's and have about $300K invested and some in cash. I have $70K in credit card debt (no lavish lifestyle, just 2 bouts of unemployment and some major medical expenses, even after insurance).

I live below my means, LCOL city, used car, max my 401K, save my bonuses, etc.

I am going to get a large bonus where after tax, I'll get a couple hundred thousand.

Should I prioritize pay off all credit cards or pay down half/some of the cards and use the rest for a house down payment?

Question: Don’t know too much about investing outside of basics and unsure if nows a good time to invest based off my experience level but I want to maximize my savings. Also, my mom has a 8k loan at 7% as well as my own loans. Any advice?
