I'm a Sr. Project Manager and for the next step in my career track, which do you think is better to go for: a Program Manager or a Director of Project Management? I'm based in Atlanta. All thoughts are welcomed.

Does sell-side TAS work have similar exit opportunities as buy-side?

I am in-house at an insurance company and have decided to completely transition out of the insurance industry. I have registered to take the CIPP/US exams but was advised to take CIPP/E too. What else should I be doing? Potentially looking at entry privacy in-house corporate counsel positions.

How do you guys use your internal network at your firm to exit into your dream job?
Do partners or sr. Managers help you get introduced or refer to firms that interest you?

Hi all. I am licensed in life, accident and health and am looking for new opportunities. I’ve been working in employee benefits in a small brokerage firm on a book of business of over 400 clients, I’m the only account manager. We’ve had 100% employer retention since I’ve been here. I am a high performer, but not sure I’m valued much at all . I want to reach the top and become partner in my career ; this is why I went to work for a small firm. My boss favors others when I do the most work!!

I am interested in moving to another state and realized that this state has one of the most restrictive reciprocity rules in the country. I've passed multiple bar exams. However, I won't get any credit for time I worked in CA because CA isn't reciprocal. I swore I'd never take another bar after taking CA - and now I have to take another exam if we move. I worked in big law in CA for two years and get no credit! Yet the exam has been waived for new grads for COVID. It sure limits our move.

If you didn't go to college, how did you learn what you know now in marketing?

I’m an Environmental Protection Specialist and make pretty good money for what I do. I just feel like I have more to offer than being a worker bee in a system at 25. I work with a lot of retirees and would love to return in my latter professional years. I have my Bachelors in Applied Coastal Environmental Science and want to expand my options. Any suggestions that won’t require me taking a crazy pay cut? I’m pretty much open to anything.

Just curious - has anyone tried to resign, and convinced to stay in big law? Wondering whether this ever happens.

This is targeted at other Project/Program managers. Right now I work in the Veterinary pharmaceutical business. I’ll likely be making a pivot sometime next spring, but am unsure what direction to go in. An obvious choice is human pharma, but getting into tech also seems appealing. Any insight from people who’ve been in both worlds would be helpful. :)

I’ll start - I’m an advisor in Wealth Management with TC of $70k, 3 YOE and no side hustle. Among other things, rent just jumped from $2500 to $3700 for 2 bedroom and areas were looking at. I’d like to “make it” here but if it means switching career to make money I’d like to get an idea to make the right job change.

Would you lateral from B4 into McKinsey as EM or take an industry offer that is $50k more in TC (thank MCK offer) and better wlb? The biggest push against taking the industry offer is that I’m not sure that i am super passionate about the industry or want to commit to that industry for the longer term. They pay for everything including leads but I’m working as an agent in one email whereas there’s another showing I’m using my license as a broker. Does anyone ever actually make offers? Just when i get through 3-4 rounds and think it’s gotta be near an offer stage, it’s like oh wait, here’s three more interviews plus a case study and a panel presentation. Then wait an indeterminate amount of time for a decision, or for more interviews.
