I feel trapped. I hate consulting, hard work, corporate life in general. I have so much student debt after MBA school that I have to take these high paying jobs that require a lot of effort but I just don’t think I’m built to do this forever. I don’t spend much on other things but it’s scary what happens to my finances if I make a major purchase like a house, have a kid, etc. Not sure if I’m asking for advice or rambling
My adland exit: I worked in new biz for 8+ years and was burning out. For a while I’d been feeling like a cog in the capitalism wheel and needed a higher purpose than pitch decks! I wanted to work in sustainability to tackle the climate crisis and through a series of moves (AMA 👍), I’m now leading global marketing for an NGO called Forest Stewardship Council. A huge relief. I’m also now hiring a Marketing Manager (true reason for this post). Long shot, but details below if this speaks!
Hey guys, Anyone here works as a chief of staff in a tech company? Looking to get some insights into what the role involve. Thanks!
Advice Needed: Last month I was laid off from work, however, since have been able to secure another position with another firm (located 90 minutes from my house in a more rural part of the state) doing real estate closings. Aside from the commute and the work (not incredibly fulfilling or challenging) the job is fine. I do consider myself incredibly fortunate to be employed during these challenging times. Do I aggressively continue my job search or wait until the beginning of the year?
Interviewing and they want examples of my previous work. I have some examples that were shared with general public, but my best work was for specific clients. Realize this might be a dumb question, but have never been asked this before. To create a deck as part of an interview exercise, sure - but not providing actual deliverables. Any advice?
I’m an audit 3rd year associate trying to make the jump to operations consulting but haven’t had any luck with interviews. Any tips/tricks on improving with that? I’ve applied to other big 4, boutique firms etc.
How is the interview process at Publicis Sapient for their management consulting practice?
Trying to exit to tech, is it common for big tech to ask for references? Who in the firm you trust enough to be your references?

First time in San Diego, staying in Gas Light. I'm solo the next two days followed by gf coming. Food/spot recommendations? Please! 😄
Just want to vent… am I the only person who doesn’t want to stay WFH full time forever? Starting my career virtually hasn’t necessarily been bad, I just feel really disconnected from my team and partner. It’s hard to get to know people casually over teams. Living in my 600 sqft apartment with my boyfriend working in the other room is also tough. It feels like my world is smaller. I just feel like I’m sorta missing out on something.
Transferred Amex points to Hilton mistakenly thinking the price per nice was the price per stay. Now I only have enough for 1/4 of my vacation and can't reverse the transfer 😱
What's the expectation of working on PRD at KPMG for senior associates? How many hours do you typically dedicate to it a week? And how hard/easy is it to say no to PRD lol 🤔 🧐
Meeting with a partner in SaT at EY for valuation. Any advice on things I can ask about or ways I can prepare? Currently a consultant in another big 4 breaking into valuation. Thanks!
Recently started B4 accounting advisory - my projects keep getting delayed or cancelled and for the last few months I’ve only worked about two weeks. My next engagement just got cancelled and now I’m seriously worried about my utilization and about getting fired after just starting. My counselor was aware of my situation but didn’t mention too much about it and I’ve been reaching out + letting people know I’m available this whole time. Don’t know what else to do and how concerned I should be
Any advice for how to ask my husband to get more involved in childcare and/or help around the house? I love him but I really wish he would put down the phone and pick up the baby more (2m old)
