Yes, and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. Sure, the pay cut was brutal, but the work is a million times more fulfilling, the benefits are excellent, and I actually have my life back. I enjoy going to work every single day and I do not regret my decision one bit.
I only lasted about six-seven months. I was getting sick all the time and my mental health was in the shitter, so I made the move rather quickly.
Run the numbers and make sure you can live on the new salary. If not, scale back on lifestyle options until you can. If you hate your life more without those luxuries, don’t do it. If you’re fine without them, the fulfillment will absolutely be worth it.

I would love to, but the paycut is so severe, and I am single so without the benefit of another income in my life, so I don’t think I can afford to do it 😭
I’ve had similar thoughts. Anyone have insight on pay? I’m a fifth year FWIW.

A staff attorney position at the legal services org I’d love to join is between 50-70k. I really hope other places pay better!
