It's a big change...besides the obvious car culture and always perfect weather (which you can take or leave depending on your preference), there really is a focus on work/life balance in LA. There is a hustle, but it's nothing like the pressure and energy I felt in NY. Once you get over the lack of good bagels and pizza and the initial culture shock, you'll find you actually have the opportunity to breathe in LA. It's not for everyone. If you love the grind and you love the rain (which I miss terribly), LA may not be the best choice.
Want to know too so tagging this post.
A friend of mine made that move a year or so ago and had a hard time of it. Weather delights aside, it's culture shock. The hours are better, but conversely she felt like nobody was pulling their weight...but you will since you just got off the plane. Fewer post-work hangouts because everyone has to drive. It will likely take time to adjust.
If you don't want work-life balance, more time outdoors (in beautiful weather), and more square feet in your home: stay in New York. I'll always love NY, but the west coast IS the best coast.
