I switched from KPMG commercial into Deloitte federal and Deloitte has a lot more training opportunities. I’ve been trained by Google, Tableau, Microstrategy, and AWS with certifications all paid for by Deloitte and their partnerships. When I was at KPMG there was a $2,000 dollar limit on training which was really just one class a year and they didn’t pay for certifications. It probably depends on projects but the caliber of people at Deloitte is a lot more impressive in terms of people’s backgrounds and abilities but because of that people at Deloitte are a lot cockier and harder to deal with sometimes. Everyone thinks they are amazing and you’ll see BTAs get frustrated with doing BTA tasks. And this probably has to do with me being federal but at KPMG I was allowed to get whatever computer I wanted and whatever accessories I needed to do my job as a data engineer. At Deloitte they are a lot more strict and a lot of the times my computer can’t handle the processing power I need. It also took me two years to get a wireless mouse which was never a problem at KPMG.
D1 is spot on. I left D after 11 years to KPMG. Culture at D is a lot more cutthroat as you get into SM. People clawing for metrics while others get them handed to them as they’ve been flagged for PPD
