I moved from the Midwest to the South and that was rough. Personally, I’d say it would be easier to adjust to the Midwest than the South although certain cities in either area will be more diverse with more to do than others.
Either way, it will be an adjustment and it would be best to embrace the slow pace.
So I love from a north east city to a smaller city in south and it was definitely a change. It took me a little bit of time to get used to it since I was in a bigger city before bit after I made so friends and stuff, I like the place.
I moved from DC to Austin.
Any city in the Midwest with probs the exception of Chicago is going to be slower pace. I grew up in Chicago and have lived for at least a year in St. Louis, Charleston, and Minneapolis if you have questions!
I’ve only visited Boston a few times but it’s like a mini Chicago based on what I’ve experienced. I had friends and family in Chicago so I don’t know about meeting people but I think it would be similar to any other city. Minneapolis in the winter everyone kinda hibernates so moving there in the summer I think would help. Charleston I was taking a gap year prior to college and lived there for 14 months. I had no problem making friends my age but they have a large student population. I love going back and visiting, the town itself is super charming, architecture is beautiful and surrounding area has lots of activity that I’m sure joining a tennis club, golf course, or food and wine group would all help make friends.

Moved from nyc to a burb outside of philly AMA 😂
No problems adjusting, but depending on where you’re eyeing, the job market bears serious consideration. We fell in love with a smallish southern city but now we’re having to leave because my spouse was laid off and it’s impossible to replace the income. It’s gut wrenching.
Yep! We’re fine. Sad to move, but fine.

All depends on the city. Tons to do in Atlanta and it has lots of diversity. Charlotte has less diversity and less to do than Atlanta but is growing like crazy and has tons of young professionals living there and is a great place to start a family. Both have way better cost of living than when I lived in DC.
