I was just promoted to senior. I would like to leave public after obtaining my CPA/having a busy season as a senior under my belt. PA wrecks havoc on my anxiety and I don’t know how long I can realistically last in this position. This might be horrible to say but I would honestly love a job with structured hours (ie just the basic 9-5, maybe some overtime here and there but not the norm/expected) and the work is also very boring/similar day to day. Can anyone recommend positions that fit this?

After spending 4 years as a mid-level ops manager, I tried to break into HR through talent acquisition. Now after 6 years in TA, I've had a hard time getting out of it. My goal was always to get into a more broad HRBP position, but I've since worked for smaller orgs without a solid HR career path. When I ask about my career goals, they keep telling me, "Soon!" Or "Maybe in 6 months!"

Say if the pay was largely at par, what would you prefer 1) service handful of clients in your industry / region with more of client specific challenges and high level of operational control on outcomes 2) run a large national P&L with more of strategic challenges but limited direct control on outcomes.

Part of a large firm which is fairly hierarchical and am fairly junior in tenure. Feel like I don’t actually like any of my “superiors” and most of them have a very divergent views of what life is (given how much they want to work and how often they prioritize work). I like the work, I’m just tired of being exhausted by internal senior stakeholders and their never ending demands. Is industry the right place to look for some sense of reasonability? Any other advice?
