Anyone moving due to COVID? (Permanent or temporary). I’m considering a temporary move out of a Tier 1 city to save some money while things play out. Live at home for a few months, and then move back sometime in 2021. Just checking if anyone else is considering the same

I moved out of the Bay Area and relocated to TX. We’ll see how this plays out but so far I’m saving a lot.

Same! Amazingly huge gorgeous apt and no income tax so I'm rolling it in while being remote

Yes, moved from downtown to the suburbs. Similar type of place, but $1000 less per month. Less stressful for sure.

Lease is up next month and strongly considering moving in with my parents for the rest of the year. Would save around $10K and it's not like there's a lot to do in the city, anyway!

OP I 100% understand your concern but I promise you living at home is not that bad it’s just an adjustment. My best advice is if you have a definite move out date you’ll feel better. For example, I moved home in June but am absolutely moving back out between Oct-Dec. If you move home indefinitely you’ll probably go crazy

Moved in with parents in June hoping to move to a lower cost city by oct. So glad I left NYC and saving so much money

Moved from Tier 1 city to home in NH and didn’t resign my lease. Savings thousands more per month

Ya I just got a great rate for a place in East cut

I bought a condo in the mountains in May. We stay up there 4 nights and 3 nights in the city.

Hangin with my family and paying down loans until this plays out

I have a pyramid event tomorrow but I feel sick and I have a severe cold. Tickets have been purchased already, I am 100% certain it’s not covid because I took a test already. However, I don’t want to get anyone sick with cold. How do I handle this situation? Is it possible to let them know I can’t attend because of my cold even if the tickets have been purchased? I feel bad.

Do you think post-covid that companies will ever keep their tech employees in NYC? I’m a software engineer for a financial company and already am probably one of the last people to RTO if/when that happens. But now I’m thinking that this situation has proven that they don’t need to take on the costs of having SWEs in a HCOL city if all of us can WFH/work from a LCOL city with same results. Kinda bummed bc I’m a new hire and I never even got to move there... should I lower my expectations?

So like a lot of us, I've put on some considerable weight during covid. I had to go into office but everyone's wearing casual - so I bought myself a pair of Good American jeans so they'll hold evening together lol. I bought size 2(my precovid size) & 4(my current size). I could fit myself in size 2 & decided to just put those on instead of size 4. And boy was that a mistake. Ugh - if I sit, it's uncomfortable. If I stand - it's uncomfortable. Ugh. No question here. Just sharing my life today.

Working in my office used to be my primary source of work outfit inspiration but since working remote staying aware of what styles are in is nearly impossible. I live in a smallish town, so going out doesn't help fill in that awareness gap. Are there any online communities or slack communities where people talk about and share style inspiration I can wear at work? I'm 28, work in tech, and my office is a start up, so attire is casual. I'd also be interested in brands people follow.
