Anyone feel like they regret being in consulting? I’m a serious introvert who wishes instead of going to school for business, I did something more technical and ended up as a developer. Intl Tax folks, how long did it take before you were confident in your role? I've worked for the past 3 years in a practice that is heavily consulting based (inbound and outbound structuring) and I feel like I'm only just starting to understand the foundational concepts (where I can explain them clearly to clients) and offering a shred of value. Then I'll have calls where partners discuss complex tax, legal, treasury and other related concepts that all go over my head.. it becomes overwhelming

I'm up for promotion to M1 this summer. But I honestly cant stand the thought of one more busy season, and am fairly confident I can land a job in private industry in the next month. Am I crazy to leave as a S3, 6 months short of a promotion to M1, for a job as a senior accountant in private industry? Or should I try to stick it out to M1 and then bounce for an accounting manager position?
