It’s been co-opted by corporations and everyone else to virtue signal and pay lip-service to the community. I celebrate my history and culture every day. I don’t need (or want) to hear a recycled NPR segment about King’s murder, read a New Yorker article re: “systemic racism is real, guys!” Or see an uninspired list of “Black Authors to Read.” This wasn’t Carter G. Woodson’s vision.

Hi Guys, Recently i was interviewed for the role Digital Business & Technology CRM/CX – Business Analyst. I have cleared L1 & L2 Rounds. I am left with L3 i.e HR Round scheduled for tomorrow. 1. is cognizant working culture good (coming from startup culture) 2. I was really close with the partners at my old firm, I left on really good terms, and I know they’ve struggled to replace me. Has anyone ever tried to get their old job back? How do I even do that? Hello Accountants, I have a question. I have enough credits for the CPA exam, but before I realized that I was aiming for a Master in Accounting and got accepted in my school 5 year program for that purpose. Is there any benefit of getting said master? Or should I focus on passing the CPA exam instead? I just finished my first tax internship and everybody said that the CPA was unavoidable but nobody talked about any benefit of getting a master whatsoever. What do you guys think?

I have been approved for 6.99% refinance on my 10% used car loan. I owe 4 more years on the loan. I’m too lazy to refinance but obviously I should. How stupid would I be to not refinance? Also, I’m too overwhelmed with work and life in general. Just don’t have the energy.

Finally, now that WFH is more accepted (thanks 2020), do you think more industries will “reimagine” this arbitrary 40+ hr. work week? Some orgs tried/have proven to be more productive with less (e.g. 6hr work days, 4 day work weeks) but I don’t know if consulting leaders are enthusiastic about normalizing this since “it’s the land of billable hours”... What would it take?

Baby furniture. What is everyone doing? FTM and trying to figure out if it’s worth investing in very expensive nursery furniture. We were looking at the Natart furniture collection and the Silva collections. These both come in at about $2000-$2400. The furniture is high quality and grows with the child. Alternatively I could go the lower end route at get everything for like $800. Is that wise? I hear horror stories about low quality and paint chipping from the baby teething on the crib.

It is common practice at my small firm by two main partners to fly through transactions for clients regardless of potential conflicts (for the company) or issues that may arise. It is often chaotic and has led to lawsuits being filed by investors against the clients. I know this is expected from time to time but I feel like I’m not getting the proper exposure to doing deals the right way. Would it be better at a larger firm or is this common anywhere? Mostly deal with microcap companies.

Recently lateraled to another firm, and previous firm did not pay my last paycheck. Any advice in handling that? Should I just email the old firm’s HR? TIA!
