I’d say the opposite.

More importantly my soft serve 🍦 options are increasing

As in people who don’t serve themselves? I’d say the opposite as well

like

Ah ok. Misunderstood your question - thought you were referring to people who were “self serving”, aka selfish.

I’d agree with your comment then

Yes. It’s almost like they don’t realize the little computer they take everywhere can be used for more than texting and selfies

like

The proper term is “lazy behavior"

Or is it “full service?” 🤔

I have been doing freelance/independent contract graphic design for 3 years, and I’m looking to take a position as FTE now.

There are a few smaller agencies in my city that I specifically adore and i’ve reached out/applied to open roles etc. One of them I even have a friend at, she has told me they are dying for more designers right now, but also so busy they struggle to make time for the hiring process.

Does anyone have tips on how to get past this sort of wall?

My key skills are with Technical Support, Incident Management, Escalation Management, and Customer Engagement. My key technical skills are Python and MySQL. Current CTC is 32L in Chennai.

But, I do not have a degree. It's harder to find companies value skills than a degree. Can someone refer to a company that values skills not degree?

4 YOE in Federal consulting. Currently a C at $85K and just received a 5/5 performance review with super positive feedback from my team and leadership. Noted that I was the top performer and was doing stuff at a senior level.

How realistic would it be to break $100K+ in jumping elsewhere? Either at C/SC level. Might be a silly question but I want see others perspective. TIA!

Do people tend to age out of wanting to FIRE?

In your 20s-30s, you don’t know much, you’re told what to do, you have few financial resources so you are tied to your job. Under these circumstances it makes perfect sense why you would want to FIRE asap.

But eventually you advance up the ladder, you are now the boss and your people do all the grunt work. You also have built up expertise which makes the job easier. And you are making the best money of your life. FIRE is no longer so pressing.

Anyone else obsess over your next career move? I’m a senior associate in a niche BigLaw group in DC. I am just now hitting my stride and can really see a path to partnership. I handle my own matters relatively independently, am generating some business, and will inherit a large book of business in my favorite space in the next year or so. The problem is that this isn’t what I want, or at least what I think I want. (Continued in comments).
