Is it common in the industry for licensed insurance agents to not get any commissions on a referral in which you personally write the policy? Ex: If a current client refers a prospect to our team, I would not receive commission. Additionally, if I write a policy for friends/family I would get a small incentive but it’s a fraction of the commission producers make.
Management is considering changing this going forward. However, I’m not sure how I should react if they keep things how they are now.

I have a final round interview for a non-investment role at a hedge fund in the NYC area. I was told I would be discussing comp with the founder of the fund. So you fell down the wrong rabbit hole…what to do next? Did two years of app development loved it, pay was bad at the company I was at, transferred to a cyber gig 2 years ago. Not enjoying Cyber at all or learning any skills applicable to other things. Feel like applying out is iffy because I havent done it in two years and wont land well. So my partner and I were recently hired as CDs, but we're exclusively being briefed on projects as the creative team. Title is CD. Pay is CD. But the work is pretty well stuff that should/could be done by an intermediate/senior team.

Is this normal? I've never worked in an agency where the CDs are briefed directly onto a project as the sole creative team, unless it's a super significant brief. Even then other teams are involved.

I love my job but sometimes I feel like I’m not satisfied creatively. I run a photography business on a side that’s picking up, and I sometimes feel a lot more excitement and fulfillment doing it, but I’m afraid of making a such a switch… growing up as an immigrant money was an issue and it effected me, it’s hard to come out of that mentality, my job allows me to have a bit of both good money and creativity, but sometimes I think about what happens when I’m older.
