Anyone open to providing some insight on the public finance space?

It’s my understanding the work is less interesting but also comes with less hours. I personally think the trade off is worth it but would love to hear more.

For context I’m between Pub fin and corporate banking based on what I’ve seen so far regarding different jobs. Trying to gain as much info before sending out apps.

Need some opinions on whether I am qualified enough to get my foot in the door in PE.
1.5 YOE as a FA, 1 YOE as AVP FA of a branch, and 1 YOE as an AVP internal product specialist on the performance team. Large brokerage firm all 3.5 yeara. BBA in finance, CRPC. If so, what should i be looking for?

I have a business idea in the VR/AR space utilizing AI. However, I lack skill sets to evaluate viability or to create an MVP. Neither do I have a network to tap into.

My plan is taking classes to deepen my knowledge while joining and actively participating in communities to find collaborators.

Does this approach make sense or do you recommend other approaches? If it makes sense, do you have any recommendations for classes or communities?

Boutique or big 4?

I'm currently an ops manager at a big 4 in London and received an offer from a small boutique firm with 25-30% pay rise.

My employer has a sponsorship program that the CFA qualifies for. They sponsor 100% but only after 6 months of full-time permanent employment; thus I will qualify in may 2023 (I just started). One of my MD’s asked me to update a workbook with new deal info on a sheet they created in September. I did it with the new cap structure they gave, and got a paragraph back telling me it was wrong, and to use a different cap structure. Sent it back, same exact response with a third cap structure. I put these in and am sent a “your book is a mess,” when all of the “errors” they pointed out were errors from the original sheet from them and I got blamed. I just graduated, how do I deal with this?

Is index match still used or has it been replaced by x-lookup? New analyst here having to learn index match (which is fine) but I always thought xlookup is superior.
