No; better WLB and pay

likeupliftingfunny

No, because I’m no longer measured on hour utilization

likeuplifting

No. I earn as much if not more with less than a third of the stress and mental distress that I use to experience. Plus I understand the organization and the content of my company better than I ever understood my client’s when I was in consulting

likeupliftingsmart

No, I earn more, have a less stressful life, and actually see long term impact of what I do

likeuplifting

What do you do?

like

Sometimes yes, I miss the camaraderie, travel perks, and the fact that I “could” work on studies that were important. But then I remember the stress, politicking, and getting pushed into studies that I hated bc PD wouldn’t let me stay on the beach.

It evens out in the end.

No. 2.5x my comp but lost my WLB. Much more interesting work now

likefunny

No. It's the difference between being in the announcer's booth and on the field. Have accelerated more quickly in industry and comp growth with stock has outpaced

funny

I kinda do since I have hardly any idea what’s going on at my new company or how to do the job

like

Where do you work and why is it so complicated?

Yes, I boomeranged back. Limited mobility. The initial salary jump was significant but year over year increases were minimal.

Yeah, but it’s pretty great. It’s always not great to feel stuck in a dead end role bored out of your mind because the pace is so slow you can finish a day’s work in 20 minutes.

Im starting a new job but still employed somewhere else. I was trying to be open about staying at BOTH places. My current job won’t let me be part time because they don’t allow “set schedules”. Yet I am one of the only reliable and loyal employees in the department, and currently working a set schedule. So why will they not let me continue a set schedule but with different hours? This place is more focused on strict policies and not actually trying to work their employees and being flexible.

Any of you partners or partnership track people start off as bad associates and then get it together a few years in? Trying to figure out if/ how I can get better at this.

Anyone here work in a firm where there are no female partners in your office? I feel like I have a lot of advancement opportunities from at least one partner but there is no clear route to partnership being shared at this point. I have been told it’s because all of the up and coming women in our firm haven’t made it there yet but I’ve only seen one woman become partner in the last few years (in another office) and the rest of the female partners have been laterals…

But, I do not have a degree. It's harder to find companies value skills than a degree. Can someone refer to a company that values skills not degree?

Does anyone put money in VAs for a business client? What are the PROS/CONS/DIFFERENCES? Scenario: 5 doctors want principle protection first and growth of principle second. Each doctor is 20% vested. The business is cash rich and time horizon is 3 to 5 years. Thoughts/Advice welcome. I already have the potential company/product with no surrender period so I don’t need referrals but I’m thinking there will be at least one person who only reads part of this post and referred me anyway. :-( TIA

I just started a new job. I left my previous job because the environment wasn’t healthy and almost all of my colleagues left. The team at my new job is nice but the nature of the work doesn’t align with my interests/is not as unexpected and I’m struggling to stay motivated. I realize I made a poor decision. How bad would it be to quit after only 2-4 weeks? Or, instead of quitting should I ask if I can move internally?

I've worked at the same engineering firm for 4 years. I'm currently making $161k with only a $750 bonus, but excellent vacation (4 weeks, cash out anytime, rolls over indefinitely), 45 hours a week. I have an interview with a recruiter at Guidehouse this week for a Technical Project Manager role. It seems to be focused in the government space and requires a security clearance. What sort of salary and benefits could I expect for this sort of role at Guidehouse?
