What's going on in DC tonight
Saw this on Reddit, Sample size: 4000 consultants
I've worked at the same engineering firm for 4 years. I'm currently making $161k with only a $750 bonus, but excellent vacation (4 weeks, cash out anytime, rolls over indefinitely), 45 hours a week. I have an interview with a recruiter at Guidehouse this week for a Technical Project Manager role. It seems to be focused in the government space and requires a security clearance. What sort of salary and benefits could I expect for this sort of role at Guidehouse?
Anyone down to critique my resume?

No; better WLB and pay
No, because I’m no longer measured on hour utilization
No. I earn as much if not more with less than a third of the stress and mental distress that I use to experience. Plus I understand the organization and the content of my company better than I ever understood my client’s when I was in consulting
No, I earn more, have a less stressful life, and actually see long term impact of what I do

What do you do?
Sometimes yes, I miss the camaraderie, travel perks, and the fact that I “could” work on studies that were important. But then I remember the stress, politicking, and getting pushed into studies that I hated bc PD wouldn’t let me stay on the beach.
It evens out in the end.
No. 2.5x my comp but lost my WLB. Much more interesting work now

No. It's the difference between being in the announcer's booth and on the field. Have accelerated more quickly in industry and comp growth with stock has outpaced

I kinda do since I have hardly any idea what’s going on at my new company or how to do the job

Where do you work and why is it so complicated?
Chief
Yes, I boomeranged back. Limited mobility. The initial salary jump was significant but year over year increases were minimal.

Yeah, but it’s pretty great. It’s always not great to feel stuck in a dead end role bored out of your mind because the pace is so slow you can finish a day’s work in 20 minutes.
