Hello! Luckily I have landed an Administrative Support Full Time job in a top university in Canada! I’m aiming to grow as a HR professional & want to see myself as an HR expert! I’ve come from a completely different background ( healthcare) but I have always tried to have transferable skills like interpersonal, relationship building skills, public speaking etc. My question is by accepting this job ( administrative clerk ) am I taking the right step towards HR expert in long term?

Ridiculously beginner questions but: 1) is the max 401k ($19,500) that you can save per year including employer contributions? 2) hypothetically what happens if I set my contribution rate too high and don't correct it? Let's say I make $100k and set my rate to be 30% which would result in my saving to much. Are there safeguards against this or do I get penalized? Thanks!

I was very interested and there are a lot of perks (unlimited vaca, more holidays, winter shutdown, and fully WFH) but the salary increase is only $10k then I make now and benefits cost more. Remember when we were told all of our benefits would transfer? I noticed my student loan benefit ceased and I didn’t have any info from Vialto about it transitioning. When I contacted them, they said they do not have an active student loan pay down program and that one will be active on 7/1. They will not reimburse the 2 months of no benefit and there is nothing they can do about it. This is my first Vialto road block so far. Not happy about being forced to transfer to have my benefits effected.
