I’m interested. How do you do collaborate on documents? For me it was always scribbles on a printed document handed to me to type in by a partner. I still get this. Also get photos of markups. Some have learned track changes. Some put arrows on a PDF redline. I prefer track changes because I don’t have to spend time typing stuff manually into documents. What are others views?

To the lender counsel that forgot to mention they needed original signature pages for a deal that closed early this year and decided to chase and harass me a day before thanksgiving and a day after thanksgiving multiple times. F*ck you. I don’t know what is driving your lack of courtesy but I have represented the same bank before and know their usual original signature requirement.

If I foresee a move to a new city in a few years, is it better to be proactive and lateral to a firm in my current city that has an office in the city I plan on moving to? I wonder if it makes sense to take advantage of the hot lateral market now, and then just switch offices instead of firms when the time comes. Thoughts?

Considering a move in finance from a mid-tier uk to L+W. Does anyone have insight on the uk practice wlb? Also I’m aware of their stealth layoffs during previous downturns. Would you consider it high risk to move now and be exposed to an easy sacking during the 6 months probation?

Second year corporate associate preparing their first issues list for a purchase agreement. The other side came back with a lot of changes and I’m worried about not spotting issues to put on the list/proposed responses to the issue because I’m still learning m&a and am still junior. I feel like a champ today. I woke up late at 9:30 am, but billed 11 hours, managed to work out for 40 minutes, took a 1 hour break for coffee break in the evening and another 1 hour for dinner. Spoke to my family on FaceTime 2 times. Had a shower and washed my hair. Now waiting for my partner to come to bed. It’s late (1:30 am) but I’m reading a few pages of a book for the first time in forever. Tomorrow might be different but I’ll try to make it like today. I feel like a champ!

Got asked to help with a “2nd Level” doc review for a huge case. Seems like the firm was begging for about 50 associates. Staffing partner asked if I can help. My hours haven’t been all that great but I just started 6 months ago. First quarter is allegedly slow based on what I heard from partners. Idk if other associates in my group were asked. I said yes since I need to make my hours this year, but I wonder if this is a bad sign? Also, I’m not in litigation.

Any advice welcome!

Im a junior and I get a lot of random please run redlines, please send documents from the system at 8pm, 10pm, etc, and they expect me to respond right away (which is fine because I'm home and its an easy task). I usually stay on to check emails until 10pm-12am. BUT when we go back to office, how will we handle those random tasks that require immediate attention? What if im in the middle of my commute? Do we just not go home until late? Will the expectation to be on 24 7 relax a bit?
