That's a long commute which could really eat into your social life. I don't know anyone who commutes that far that wouldn't prefer it to be shorter.
Second that
I had a very similar commute a few years ago. Personally, I think it depends on your transportation options. I had to take the LIRR, so the seats were roomier than your usual subway carts and I was able to catch up on some sleep/work if I needed to. Obviously this would be harder if you’re driving a car lol. Either way, I personally very much enjoyed these long commutes. It becomes a sacred time for you to be present with yourself and it was very much a sanctuary for me. I also discovered my love for podcast during this time which was a super plus.
My main takeaway from this experience: you gotta do what you gotta do. Once you get in the groove of things, you don’t really think twice about it. You also learn there’s a whole lotta people (than you would think) who reverse commute, so it’s a nice little secret/sub community. There’ll be days where it’ll suck, sure, but do whatever gets you to your next goal you know?
Thanks! I think it’d really enjoy the time to chill out and separate my work mindset from my home mindset
I do. It’s really not that bad, most of the traffic is around the bridge/tunnels but that depends where you’re coming from and when. Otherwise it’s usually a straight shot out of the city. If the job is worth it, I would let that deter you
