I have been tasked with finding a good diagnostic tool to assess math skill growth from the beginning of the year to the end of the year for grades 1-8. I've used generic tests in the past, but haven't ever found anything that really did much for me. Doesn't need to be a free item, just good. What do you use and do you like it or not? Not looking for a curriculum program, just a good diagnostic tool.

For those that have gone in-house, do you get equity in the company? If so, what’s that structure like? I just spoke to my buddy and he said he gets about 85k in equity a year (2 year vesting), plus his 210k base salary, plus around 80k in bonus. 7 years of experience

I work at a ‘free market’ firm and have developed a very good reputation among partners. Naturally, they are drowning me in work. Each time a new case comes up, the partner will email asking if I have “time and interest” in helping. When I’m at capacity, I take these words at face value and explain why I can’t do it, and that seems to work out ok with no hard feelings. But what’s the “interest” thing? If I don’t want to work on a toxic tort case, do I just say that and pass?
