Anyone start their career doing corporate/transactional work and now do something completely different?

Yep. I set up corporations and subsidiaries and advised on corporate governance, with a little transactional work for the same clients. Didn’t stay long enough to do anything exciting but already knew it was soul sucking for me. God I hated my clients. Now I represent veterans and it’s amazingly satisfying. The money ain’t as good, but it’s an infinitely better job.

Any ideas for paths I could take to get out of this and still have the client aspect without 3.5 months of 70+ hour work weeks?

Would you recommend I take a project mgmt role at Meta under a 9 month contract for 60/hr or stay at a role that has potential with nearly no possibility of getting laid off? My fear is that the economy gets worse and I’m stuck after the 9 months.

Current comp is 40/hr. I could probably get a promotion around Dec 2022-April 2023 bringing my comp to around $100k salary (potentially more). I’m 24, 4 YOE, and this contract would be with Collabera with Meta as the client.
