Anyone still have their teams write user stories? Not at the initiative or epic level (those we have at PRDs) but what about breaking down functionality and requirements for that epic?

I (the PM) write the epics, and my business analysts write the stories and testing requirements.

At the company I work for the product managers write the epics or user stories and the product owners break those down into stories or tasks

I feel like you are making some assumptions with your question. The word “still” struck me as odd.

Are you using SAFe agile framework ?

What is your purpose in using a PRD ? Is it for marketing to use ? Is it for engineering. I have written PRD for different audiences before.

With my current team we use OKR / EPICs / stories. We don’t have a need to write PRD.

Products vary so much…. just launched or mature… if might help if you share a little more.

Thank you. I wondered if you were talking about waterfall.

I have friends at many companies… and some use PRDs and some don’t. I wonder if we could do a poll here. It might be easier to get votes, then for people to reply to the post. I am curious

My current company is around 30% of products use PRD. Prior employer with around 3,000 employees doing commercial software used, Jira and Confluence. Products used EPICs/stories because leadership wanted a unified toolset for portfolio product management.

Do your friends use the lean business canvas and hypotheses/experiments?

I’d love to get your feedback here. I’m only 1.5 years into the field and have been here for a year. Now it’s review time. Work is pretty fast paced and do end up taking on slightly different roles depending on the need. I think I’ve made myself valuable to the team by helping give them a voice but also relaying management’s views/needs/reasoning.

My bonus is unreliable so thinking, would it be too much to ask for an increase to 80k (23%) + stake in the company?

sometimes I get really overwhelmed so I just take a time out and go sit in the bathroom stall.

How does anyone working in the analytics and insights space get to manage teams here? Seems like it’s a lot of working alone or in teams with no real hierarchy

Why do companies exploit their staff by giving you the workload of 2-3 people, wait for you to burn out or resign then try and counter offer you or offer to provide additional support, when you’ve asked for it so many times in the past? Is it because they want to see how long they can get away with it, or is it you’re seen as cheap and efficient resource and they can take advantage? If you value someone why wouldn’t you give them the tools to do their jobs??

If all the top consulting firms made anonymous decks or gave anonymous pitches to a client, eg no branding and the client did not know which firm made which deck, do you actually think that the client would prefer MBB? Is MBB actually coming up with better/more innovative solutions? I feel like I see many repeat or slightly altered solutions on almost all of my cases, are these really things that people at Deloitte/Accenture etc aren’t coming up with?

Just got another rejection. Make that from just about every firm in the industry at this point. Is it even worth it to keep trying.

Best shoes for guys working in NYC? Any suggestions?

Any Bridge Engineers/Structural Engineers in here? I got my PE this year and have 5 YOE in TX + an MS. What sort of raise would you expect for receiving your PE working in a consulting firm? I am EOR on a number of structures in development, I manage EITs and Drafters (within projects; I'm not a supervisor), and am doing a lot in general. I'm at 78k currently, which is apparently still in the upper range of EIT salaries per a job posting in CO. I'm thinking of 15% (5% merit, 10% PE). Any ideas?

Working for a huge firm but wanting to take on smaller cases. For example working for an AmLaw50 but considering taking on criminal defense work but only for big matters. How do I pitch this up to the partners? Is it possible? Worth it?

I am feeling lost, overwhelmed, got promoted to SM. +1 requests are coming in, leading a critical and short project (something I haven’t done before, got pulled into it…couldn’t say no) with insufficient support so I have to figure out how to deliver, do most of the work, prep and lead client workshops, send follow-up comms, manage difficult senior client relps. Consultants not proactive, seem to not care, …I don’t want to work all evenings/wknds anymore but focus on dating and my children…
