When I started working again I also got a gig working from home. I tried to use my free time to make sure I was fully comfortable with my childcare situation (nanny) and establish a good routine with household and baby stuff, and network so I could get local gigs in the future. Took a few weeks back to get into a normal work routine but turned out to be the best time ever! Enjoy spending more time with your baby!

When I came back the first month or so was really hard. Try coming to the office for a couple of days a week, especially Fridays to get reconnected. It takes a while to get back into the swing of things. Best advice I ever got is that it takes 6 months to get back to full speed. Don’t be hard on yourself and talk to people in your network about easing back in.

I slowly went back to work (first week 1 day, second week 2 days etc). But for the first 1-2 months, I had no ability to focus, I thought every work related meeting or conversation was the most boring thing I’d ever heard, I was unmotivated, and I literally lost my capacity to actively listen to a conversation (I’d zone out after 1 minute). It’s hard but it’s common. Give yourself some time, set small goes, and plan your day in 15-30 minute increments until the feeling passes (eg I will listen for the next 15 minutes and note key insights, decisions, and actions — If I didn’t make myself take notes, I just didn’t listen.

It will pass. Good luck

Have you worked from home for extended periods before? I started working from home years ago and it is a tough transition. When I’m feeling in a rut or unmotivated (and I am meeting free for a few hours) I go for a run (or swim) to start the day or I get dressed in real clothes, do my hair and makeup and go work somewhere out of the house- a coffee shop or coworking space. It’s a kick in the pants

WFH is harder than people think. I started working from home but opted to go into the office a couple days a week (my office is really close so i could just pop in for a couple meetings) I need contact with people and some meetings just go better in person. If you’re not near an office, I’d second getting dressed in real clothes and getting out of the house when possible.

Hello fellow PM's! I'am currently applying for new remote jobs and a few of the hiring processes include an interview with CTOs. What should I expect from that?

For context, it's not a technical PM jobs and the job description states that they are ok with Business Grads. I can do some python and SQL but mostly for data Analytics (Pandas and Numpy libraries for instance). I can also deal with HTML and CSS for website development but I would say I am a noob at this point.

Thanks a lot!

Hi all! I’m in the search of a remote HRBP role, looking for a company that is willing to pick me up as a new HRBP. I’ve been in the role 4 months, but this company is a disaster. The culture is so bad, I had an employee say they can’t even go to the bathroom without permission. I’m really not wanting to go back to a generalist role. Prior to this job, I had another offer of HRBP but I didn’t like the interview. Been in the field 6+ years. Let me know if anyone has anything!
