I studied in Paris (LOVED IT) and traveled around Europe while I was there.
Also went to paris, LOVED IT
New Zealand! I spent most of it outside enjoying the national parks
That would be amazing!!!
China - it was life changing.
Agreed. The best trip I’ve ever had.
I studied in Florence, Italy and absolutely loved the city and the experience. It was my first time leaving home so it was a learning experience for me in terms of growing up and going out and doing stuff on my own. Definitely recommend the experience!!
Madrid!! Best experience of my life, I met my lifelong best friends there :,)
I also did madrid! Can’t wait to move there someday
Yes!! Loved it so much I did it three times 😊 here’s my experience:
1. Melbourne, Australia - LOVED Australia. People are very laid back and nice, and I enoyed the pace of life there. Melbourne is a very artsy city with great coffee and brunch. Got to do cool road trips and see a lot of nature, wildlife, and beaches. Traveled around Aus as well and got to snorkel and dive in the Great Barrier Reef, see Sydney, and Whitehaven Beach. Stunning time.
2. Hong Kong - Very city! Always something happening. Super modern and efficient public transportation, good food everywhere. It’s a very interesting dynamic of east meets west. Great city views and hikes. Very cheap and easy to visit other places in Asia. I did Taiwan, Macau, Japan, and South Korea and had a blast.
3. Florence, Italy - Spent a summer there in a cultural immersion program learning Italian and Renaissance art. It was super cool to be practicing the language with locals and learning about the art pieces in front of the pieces themselves. Ate way too much pizza and gelato. Also stayed in a 600+ years old apartment down the street from an old palace. Very cool experience. And of course was able to get around Italy and other European cities very easily, i.e. Rome, Siena, San Gimignano, London, Paris, Copenhagen, Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen, Barcelona.
Hong Kong was SUCH an amazing study abroad destination.. my study aborad school was in flames this past fall though😔
I did Bordeaux in France!!! Loved it. Recently traveled to Porto omG ahmazing
St Petersburg, Russia and it was a wonderful experience! It helped me learn to budget limited funds for additional travel and how to make friends with a lot of new people from different cultures.
Honestly anywhere she goes will open her mind and expand her horizons. Europe is good because it’s pretty safe and you can travel so many places very easily.
Singapore! Fantastic experience, extremely safe, very international and great hub for travelling across Asia on weekends
Egypt. Also loved it but a very different experience than going to France, Spain, Italy, etc. Less wild nightlife, for one! I think there may be language requirements for Egypt programs as well.
Toledo, Spain. Loved it! I am a strong supporter of studying abroad. It is definitely a life changing experience! You grow so much from the exposure to a different culture, language (if applicable), and being out of your comfort zone.
Omg she should def do it. I regret so much not going abroad
I didn’t study abroad but I interned abroad in Thailand and it was amaaazing! South east Asia is great: cheap, great food, a million things to do, and a culture SHOCK, which I think is really the key to the best experiences :)
If she wants to travel a lot, big European city is a good bet because you can travel on the weekends. If she wants to do something a little more unconventional but still awesome, I suggest Cape Town.
You’re a great parent for encouraging and supporting your child to have this experience! ❤️
I studied for 1 semester in Copenhagen. My parents were originally very nervous about the idea of studying abroad but when they heard about how safe Copenhagen is, they were all about it. No regrets. Copenhagen is an amazing place
I loved studying in Copenhagen! I also lived with a family and it was amazing.
Madrid, Spain - homestay - amazing. Came out fluent in Spanish
Don’t recommend going to an English speaking country. What’s the point?
Florence, Italy. Great experience.
Glasgow, Scotland for fall semester (4months). Loved it! It’s for the experience of being abroad in a new setting, with school to “anchor” you but not be the focal point (and travel, work/life balance, living more independently being the growth opportunities instead).
I had 14 other students from my undergrad there with me, as well as a professor, so the transition to UK schooling and a new environment wasn’t as much of a shock.
