God knows that it's been stressful and made me more than ever question the world around me. If I can say anything speak to your fellow AAPI colleagues and share your experience, if you don't have any, DM me, happy to chat. This is a time to address the challenges we have as an AAPI Community and to put aside any grievances to focus on how we can support one another. Don't know who you are, but know that others, including myself are here for words of encouragement and support.

I really need to take a mental health or a couple but likely won’t take any. My colleague and I think that no one takes our problems seriously since we continue working with no impact to our work or demure. By keeping our heads down and working, it’s going to hurt any change we want.

I have - feel as though growing up, we were told to study hard and work hard to go business route. Feel so useless earning money and going down the business path when you have no power to make the world a better place

Recently made the jump from mostly insurance defense work where my average billable rate was around $225/hr. Now the average billable rate is probably about $450/hr. Would I be able to get away with my insurance defense billing practices. I was averaging about 2800/yr before. Would that be cool in big law?

Family member is in their mid-70s still working FT but as an indep contractor and does not have employer backed retirement account. Income is close to $200k. Has reverse mortgage, some car loan debt, low assets, no life insurance. Has about $80k to invest. Should they (a) invest thru a financial advisory firm like Edward Jones (& pay applicable fees) or (b) simply invest their $ in low fee mutual funds or (c) something else entirely?

Interested in your opinions. Last year I took a government job. Before I was working as an independent consultant and netting more - obviously without pension and benefits though. (Lost work due to pandemic.) With extra medical expenses this year (outside of government insurance) I realize I’m simply not making enough money to do what I want and need to to (medical + travel + investing). Everyone tells me to stay for security and WLB.

Did you also know some people might be surprised to learn that discrimination is also rampant in philanthropic and non profit institutions?

Do any of you lot worry about agism in the industry? I'm about 5yrs in and thinking about this more and more. Noticed thay most my colleagues, in mutliple agencies, were about my age with 5yrs give or take each way. Its obviously not a new industry, so either people were getting out of it by 35 or not many of them were getting hired past then. Been tellling myself ill learn to code one day to future proof but I've done fuck all so far. Anyone else planning for the future or am I being paranoid?
