First year senior here. Any advice for how to communicate a staff is underperforming to your manager? Spending 4+ hrs on calls a day answering questions thinking at the end of each that we made progress, but they end up asking similar questions the following day with less progress than anticipated. I am losing confidence in my ability to teach. It’s taking a toll, and now the teams progress is affected overall. Don’t want my managers to think less of them or me but I’m at a breaking point.

I hate that our time focus is on billable hours. Minimum 55 hours really means working at least 12 hours M-Th, 10 on Fri, and 6 during the weekend once you factor in G&A and and other random things.

Currently talking to recruiters for a new job and it is honestly such a turnoff when they talk too much about having a strong company culture and/or talking about making sure I'm a good fit culturally. For me that borders on culty and is a red flag. I would much rather hear from a recruiter that a workplace's "culture" is that they are accepting of all cultures, diversity, and personality types.

At what point is it okay to ignore work-related emails and messages when you're on vacation? I'm on PTO and have not gone a single day without opening my work laptop. They ask me to work on things when they know I am on PTO. Managers also keep sending meeting invites on my calendar when it's blocked off with out of office.
