Anyone taken time off to just create? Focus on your portfolio and health? I feel like I’m a content-rut, but I want to challenge myself. I miss the rigor of school.

Have you thought about just working on a dope spec project outside of work- I find when I have too much time to my self (ie if I took off work to create) I end up getting lazy/wasting more time and getting frustrated - that might just be me though. If you do decide to work on your book and want a copy partner (partners make the work better and help hold you accountable) you can check out the fb page called make ads with me- it’s to help connect creativeswith people to work on their books with and provide other resources etc

I seriously forgot what it's like to work a normal 40 hours. Got an offer from a really small consulting firm that offers no health insurance or 401k match. Otherwise the firm seems like a great fit and something I’d love to be a part of. What are some things I should consider with the lack of benefits? I’m thinking I should negotiate a higher offer to make up for it? Thoughts?

I know this topic does not get talked about much but will eventually impact almost all of us so here goes. I am thinking of retiring (early) and would love recommendations for countries that I can retire to that. Primary factors would be cost if living, safety, warm climate, good health care system, (preferably) close to the US - not a requirement, stable government and laws, diversity in landscape (beach, rivers, mountains). Definitely not super rich so thinking of 5k a month in expenses.

How do you deal with burnout? I’m just not feeling it anymore. I keep thinking time off will help but I’m not so sure because it’s winter and not as nice outside up north. I’ve been working for 16+ years with the longest break between jobs at 7 weeks. Never take more than a week off at a time. Any tips? Should I say anything to the partners I assist? Should I say anything to my supervisor?

Been working on mostly (about 70%) public sector policy and strategy at Big 4 for most of my career. Often go up against MBB on RFPs and have a decent win rate. Would I be too senior to come in as a lateral hire? I guess it’s all about client networks at this level, and being government, it’s locationally dependent - so which markets have need?
