Tried and sucked at it. Gave up on it. Good luck to all of you.

I've been reading David Epstein's book "why generalists triumph in a specialized world" and it's making a lot of sense.
I think test taking prioritizes "kind learning" whereas generalists with adhd are optimizing for "wicked learning"

GRE but would love to njoin!

I took it and I 100% recommend study groups plus on facebook groups you can find all the materials required to study

Study groups are the best. But dont rely on people cause a lot will give up and you will lost motivation. Dont spend money on anything (books, coaches, classes, mock exams, people offering to write the test for you, etc.)

I’m planning on starting to study for it very soon. In December I plan to take off for almost the month and study around 6-8 hours a day

LOL this is literally what I’ve done now. ADHD hyper focus right? Doing it PT just won’t work 😂😂

I am going to try again to prep for it. I was in 2019 and was diagnosed in 2020. I took manhattan prep. Keep me posted if there’s a group.

I already have a management degree but the exam is a diff beast

I took it in 2018! Good luck friends

uplifting

Took it in 2020. Found it was best to treat it like my job for two weeks - went heads down and studied more or less 9-5

Studied 18 months and couldnt push past 670. Eventually gave up but moved across internally to my post MBA target function anyway. Eventually realised my reasons for pursuing an MBA were flawed. Good luck with it!

Same 🥲

Career development question — what are some (preferably free) resources/learning tools available for newer HR professionals? I do a lot of learning on the go in my workplace, and it has allowed me opportunities to advance quickly from Intern to Admin to, now, Compliance Coordinator, but I’d like to sharpen my knowledge so I can be an even greater asset to my company.

I have had a lot of success in my position at my firm. Clients have been extremely open with their appreciation and desire to work with me. I have far exceeded my billing requirements by over 75-100 hours each month. What is the best way to seek a midstream raise? Also, what is a reasonable raise. Is asking for 15-20k ridiculous when I think I have earned it?

Additional Posts in ADHD Consultants

Hey everyone. I am not an ADHD consultant, but mom to a 6 year old who is very likely ADHD (we will be starting the diagnosis process soon). I wanted to hear from anyone who was also diagnosed as a young kid on any advice you have for me? Knowing what you do now, would you recommend meds for a 6 year old (if it comes to that)? What other solutions/therapies can I use with my kid? Please, any advice is welcome!

I started taking Adderal, 2.5 g which is not really a lot. It didn’t really help with my focus, instead I felt restless and somehow nervous and really thirsty. And it made me clench my teeth. I do grind my teeth during nighttime but never experienced this in the daytime. Does it take time to get used to it?

I’ve had enough. I may or may not have ADHD but I damn think so, as well as people I’ve talked to about it. I know I am smart and can accomplish certain things/tasks, but I literally just can’t get my mind to it sometimes. It was bad in college and only got worse since I started working. How do I go about at least getting tested or what’s the the process? Thank you so much in advance.

Does anyone here take concerta and struggle with the “concerta crash” as the medicine wears off? I’ve been on it since 7th grade and feel like the coming down effects have been a lot more draining recently. It makes my evenings pretty unenjoyable. Does anyone ever struggle with when you take a little too much of your adderall (or similar med) & it finally does kick in all at once, your brain starts to overanalyze everything & you get so detailed that it becomes counterproductive? I’m either avoidant & unfocused or hyperfocused & too detailed, it’s equally as unproductive.

So weird I don’t remember joining this bowl (or why) but my new therapist recommended an ADHD assessment. I’ve been researching symptoms and can relate to a LOT of them (as a child and adult). I’m conflicted because I can stay organized when I track my daily routine (been using my daily planner consistently for 2 months yay) and I’m able to focus using Pomodoro technique. How do you differentiate b/w “normal” forgetfulness, time management issues, etc vs ADHD?
