I did! I started IVF, and it honestly felt like I was working 2 full time jobs - I decided to go on leave, and it was the best decision I could’ve made for myself. Zero regret. Totally understand everyone is different, and some people have no problem working during IVF, but for me it was so helpful to be able to focus on myself (mentally and physically) and take the work stress out of the equation.
I’m thinking 6 weeks.
Chief
I am considering it for my second cycle if my first transfer is unsuccessful. Working 60 hour weeks while doing IVF has been crushing me.
I did not go on leave but I was very transparent with my manager in the months leading up to IVF that this was what my family was going through. It wasn’t comfortable, also he’s a guy, but I wanted it clear I could not work the same hours or allow my job to be a reason I could not have kids. They were able to cut back my workload to a normal 40 hr work week after egg retrieval. They said they want me at the company for the long haul and would support me how they could. For me, I think it would have been harder to take time off because of the mental pressure I would have put on a single cycle versus trying to continue living as is. Good luck with your decision!!
Yes. After multiple failed IUI then IVF cycles. Wish I’d done it sooner.
Unfortunately, my RE’s office told me that they don’t support taking time off. They support taking 2 hours off for tests and labs, but they won’t support continuous leave. I’m frustrated!!
PM1, So I put in the request for medical and the response was above. I could explore personal leave but highly dependent on the manger. My manager is not keen on anyone taking time off and makes me feel repulsive even thinking about asking my Manhar. 😨
