What is the best way to find angel investors?
Ok so I’m really confused. At the doctors for a physical but they won’t do one because I can only have one every 2 years but the pap is yearly because I have history of cervical issues. Umm what? When did they change that? Makes no sense. Aren’t physicals supposed to be yearly? Like I need my boobs checked yearly, cmon now.

If you try to call me, or ping me to ask for call, or try to pull me into another call when I'm already IN a call and Microsoft Teams shows that - you're getting ignored until I actually have time to read your message. At most you're going to get a reminder to check my calendar for availability.
If I'm out of office, my status shows out of office, and you get my automated out of office notification - I absolutely will not be replying.
Posted in the main bowl but this seems like a better place -Is it worth getting a professional resume writer before switching jobs. Would like to know your experiences. References are welcome! Thanks!
Sick and tired of companies wanting you to have an unrealistic amount of skills and experience and yet pay you very little. Hire multiple designers you cheap bast*rds! This is the best example of Marx’s theory of class struggle: they want to extract as much as possible from me while paying me as little as they can get away with it. Capitalism sucks and it has got to go
Hi all - question about the presentation of black men’s hair. During the pandemic I’ve grown out my hair to the point that every few weeks I get them twisted, and they look fairly neat (like short dreadlocks). I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing so if I haven’t already garnered the respect of my colleagues at my firm from the partner to the associate level. Now that I’m considering making a move, I feel as if I need to revert back to how my hair was when I first joined the firm - the traditional
idk who needs to hear this but : if it’s after 6 & not an emergency SCHEDULE (not send) THAT EMAIL!!! 🎤💧
How do we convince company leaders that remote work is productive? A lot of them might be on the fence because *they’re* not personally productive. How do we encourage more WFH days when this is over?

Just started this consulting gig. I have American Gold because ATK allows for an instant upgrade. American is also the most frequently flying plane from my home airport (there's almost no Delta Flights). Advice on next steps I can take?

People are leaving my firm like crazy. We've had 5 out of 60 leave in the last month.
I haven't had seen any warning signs on my end. Should I start looking for another job?
Anyone work at Bennett jones?
I need to spend a good 3-4 hours doing some organizational shit today. I have a bunch of new cases and cases with new deadlines, and it’s going to take a bit to figure out how I’m going to manage everything. It’ll make my life easier and less scrambled in the long run... but there’s so much billable work I should be doing.
How do you convince yourself to do all the nonbillable stuff that’s necessary for case management when you’re already pressed for time?
Okay here’s one: Guy I meet through an acquittance (old legal assistant) is interested. Him and LA had casual sex for two years, and they’re still friends. He broke it off w her and maintained a friendship bc he’s looking for substance. I don’t want to give him a date bc although she’s not a close friend, it speaks to character. I don’t think dating a guy knowing he had sex w someone I know is attractive/comforting. Would you give him a chance if he’s persistent? My take, more 🐠 in 🌊
If I work at a firm that is generally known as an “insurance defense” firm, but I’m niched into employment (EPLI) work am I still an “insurance defense” attorney?
I went on an interview yesterday. To say it was disappointing would be an understatement. The partner that interviewed me was nice, but he did not understand transactional law. At my last firm, I was a hybrid between transactional tasks and litigation. When billable hours came up, he scoffed at my previous requirement and stated that his were at minimum 60% more. He told me about the “good ole days” when associates were expected to work 200 billable hours a month. He can’t find anyone.
Anyone hiring in NYC outside ID? 3 years exp. Thanks in advance. Wasted a lot of time already with recruiters.
Men: what’s your go to shoe brand for every day wear and tear at the office (not necessarily court)? I’ve been wearing Rockports, but they squeak on my firms new flooring. Sounds like a clown.
I went in house at an IB love the work, people, life work balance but I also really miss litigation, miss the intensity of it, the power, risk and reward.
Anyone else have similar feelings... ? Anyone thinking about going back after going in house?
Junior associate looking for advice. I was handling a small claims case pretty much on my own (partner copied on emails but didn’t really do anything). We settled the case the day before the hearing. Several weeks later, plaintiff’s lawyer sent me a release his client would sign after receipt of funds. I screwed up and agreed to this (payment before signed release) because the case had already been dismissed. Now I can’t get ahold of him to get the signed release. Am I screwed? What should I do?
How would I go about finding a recruiter for a career switch? I have a finance background and am currently a mid level in big law. Looking for a hybrid position, but I only have experience with recruiters who recruit for other big law positions. Any ideas for how to start looking?
Anyone have multiple sclerosis? Trying to figure out if I can continue in this job. Any advice/suggestions?
I just got a conditional offer of employment. BUT, I have to fill out a form with my last three employers and mark whether I’m ok with them being contacted. One of my prior bosses was a VERY toxic man, who made my life a living hell while I was there. I am terrified he would say horrible things about me if this potential employer called him. I have the option to mark “no” and have them NOT contact this old boss. Should I do that? Would it look bad?
Anyone have insight into BraunHagey? Specifically litigation in NY. Looking for any intel on reputation, type of litigation they do, WLB/“culture,” or anything else that comes to mind. Thanks very much!
Anyone in Chicago 2-5 YOE in insurance defense looking for a new gig? We’re hiring. Quarterly bonus program, year end bonus, year end profit share into 401k. National firm. 1900 billable requirement and hybrid work. Send me a DM.
I'm going to be accepting an offer to a firm. I have a pre planned trip in May I am going to tell them about and ask if that will be an issue (could be cancelled if it's an issue). I am also traveling on Presidents' Day as my current firm has that off. That trip is paid for and not refundable. Kind of worried new firm might not have Presidents' Day off and worried that two trips will be a turnoff to them.
Did anyone start in a pretty specialized practice group in BigLaw and transition to a different group/different firm after 2-3 years? How did that go?
Why do firms have billable minimums or requirements for associates? This may be a stupid question. If an associate works really hard and delivers good work product in a timely manner, while also seeking additional assignments when needed, don’t the billable hours take care of itself? If I’m seeking more work and not getting any, whose fault is that? I’ve been told I do really good work. But this whole billable requirement thing really pisses me off.
