Fiction wise I also like fantasy, paranormal, and romance. Some fave book series are the Black Gryphon from Mercedes Lackey, Game of Thrones, and From Jamaica Lane series. Similar books?

I manage const for eng companies. Got short video interview, then a job offer @ low end my req. range. Experience: it’s normal to travel for a 2nd interview in person. Result: I see quitting to do this as risky. I asked for more $ than my prior range & explained I prefer we meet in person to see if it’s a fit 1st. Hiring manager wants me and may push for the $ but not the in person meet. Wonder if it could cause me to start there with less trust if they think I abused my position for more $.

A few months ago I asked the question about using travel smart routers to host a VPN to disguise your location. The purpose of this is to have a working vacation in a foreign country, without telling work about it. I was offered a job with a company who offered $30k less than I’m making now. I was prepared to take a pay cut for the opportunity but asked for a $10k reduction because I’m not a high earner yet so it really makes a difference.

Eventually we (the CEO and I) shook at a $20k reduction on the understanding that they would pay for my gym membership as it’s my biggest expense, and I was upfront that it costs $4k a year.

Today they reneged on the gym element as they don’t offer that..
