If your room has an Ethernet port you can connect a router and create your own WiFi, it's much faster than hotel WiFi. This can also be done using your laptop if policy doesn't restrict it.
I do sometimes if it's a boring area and I have no one to hang with. Mobile hotspot on the work phone works for internet.
I’m not a gamer - so confused as to why you can’t easily connect Xbox to hotel WiFi?
M1, sometimes you can. However it’s sometimes a hassle with those sign in pages (enter your room number or whatever), and the connection speed and strength is rarely great
Lots of hotels have bad wifi so using ethernet or hotspot is a must for work (or xbox)
Most hotels have 2 levels of WiFi - basic and hi-speed or premium. Hi-speed costs a bit more but would probably work better for gaming. Just plug in the Xbox and connect to WiFi the same way you would at home. No Ethernet connection needed for WiFi.
Yeah, not many of them will have good latency, even if you get good bandwidth.
The captive portal should work of you use the built-in browser to sign in. That's how I can use my Fire stick.
Very much looking forward to all the streaming solutions that gaming system manufacturers are working on.
Most of what I like to play is online anyway and requires a connection, of course then it will need to be just a tiny bit better of a connection.
Meanwhile if you’re at a bite with crappy WiFi, your XBox is a brick unless you have some non-online games
