Fundrise has done 20% for me

Wow. 20%? What kind of investments!

Second Fundrise. It’s very easy to invest and they recently changed their withdrawal/vesting terms for the better.

How much did you end up investing ? I’m looking into and wondering if there is any difference, also may need an invite so you can get your advisory fee waived.

Would love an invite as well.

Partnership tax question/scenario for all you Subchapter K fishies. Partner A is a 100% owner of a SMLLC. A sells 50% of their interest to Partner B for $5M, creating a multi-member LLC. Mega Backdoor Roth IRA question/After-Tax contributions

Crosspost from a thread in the KPMG bowl discussing Mega Backdoor Roth IRA/After-Tax contributions. I wanted to ask a quick question for a “mistake” I may have made.

I forgot to change my contributions from after-tax to Roth + Traditional. A few paychecks went through as after-tax and hasn’t touched my $20,500 contribution limit for the year yet.

How will those funds be used/taxed? What are the implications here.

TL;DR: Social Security matters.

My wife & I are 35. If we quit working today, at 70 we are entitled to a combined $50k in annual SS in today’s dollars. (Source: SSA.tools)

$50k real is significant. Let’s be conservative and say that a 70 year old couple spends $100k per year. That’s SS meeting half of your required expenses.

Current law with current demographics shows that SS can fulfill 79% of benefits into perpetuity.

Assuming SS will disappear means working decades longer than needed

My husband and I aren’t FIRE but take retirement and savings more seriously than our friends. 9 month emergency fund, max my 401(k) and his match. Will pay off school loans in 2 years and then invest more heavily (paying those loans first is important to us). We have a small mortgage (under 270) and drive modest cars, but we otherwise like to live and travel while young. TC 180 in LCOL area.

Can anyone relate? We do hope to retire, but I never hear about people following a similar path.

I am in my early 40's and have about $300K invested and some in cash. I have $70K in credit card debt (no lavish lifestyle, just 2 bouts of unemployment and some major medical expenses, even after insurance).

I live below my means, LCOL city, used car, max my 401K, save my bonuses, etc.

I am going to get a large bonus where after tax, I'll get a couple hundred thousand.

Should I prioritize pay off all credit cards or pay down half/some of the cards and use the rest for a house down payment?
