It is a big deal to so recklessly ignore SEC (my regulators) rules regarding archiving any and all written communication. Maybe some of you work overseas or have a state regulator.

We use Smarsh.

$0, Apple iMessage. Just text your clients dude. It’s fine

Just don’t text business stuff. Not an issue to use for scheduling or letting them know you’ll call them back in 5 min. Compliance doesn’t have to know. Do what you need to do to run your biz.

Alternatively if you use voip then you can text directly from your office line and that saves a record

Right, and how do you store and track it for compliance sake?

Not sure that's all true from what I'm reading. Anyway, still found like a ln easy solution that would pass the compliance straight face test so i dont have to worry. Anyone?

I’m not sure why we have to be stuck in the 1980’s. Clients are texting us daily. Come out with a damn app already!!!!

Agreed!

Any idea on the cost?

We added the texting feature on top of the e-mail service, so they give you a deal that way. It’s in the $25 per month range for 7 users.

Thanks for the info.

Anyone else?

I use email -to-text . You can send an email to their cell phone number and then all the required disclosures are in there and it is archived just like all your other email. They receive it on their phone in their text messages even though you emailed it. If they reply then their reply goes to your email

Texting for business opens up a huge can of worms... just think how angry you are friends and family get if you don’t reply to their texts — they expect you to be available and responsive at all hours of the day. Now imagine getting this from clients in addition to your family!! All those people expecting you to be available for them around the clock that sounds like hell!

Sounds like our response to email 20 years ago. lol
