Anyone use a recruiter to find an associate? Having a hard time finding someone.

My small firm used a recruiter to find me. The mid sized firm I’m going to used a recruiter to find me.

As an associate though, I’d ask whether (1) the salary is actually competitive not by 2019 standards but by today’s standards (2) if the salary is disclosed in the job description (3) how your hiring process is. Some firms have ended up missing out on candidates because they take weeks to offer interviews then want more interviews and the hiring process took too long… also I’ve noticed panel interviews don’t work out very well so if you’re having more people in the interview it probably won’t work out as well

I was in the interview process for one smaller firm that took 3 months to set up another panel interview because they have so many people who want to sit in on each meeting. I got an offer for another firm, but it took them over a month to onboard me. Mid sized firm’s recruiter found me on LinkedIn, offered me interview for following day, and within 1.5 weeks I had an offer saying I could start next week if I wanted (I decided to give my firm more notice than that obviously which is why I’m still at the small firm to finish a trial I have). Mid sized firm offered more money and 3 days a week WFH to boot. The other two were in the office. Are you WFH or hybrid?

If it hadn’t been for the other 2 firms’ hiring practices, one of them would’ve had me. I cancelled my acceptance of the job that took too long to onboard and my interview with the firm that took too long for the follow up interview because they invited 10+ firm members to each interview

You could always do what many recruiters do and go to various recruiters’ pages on LinkedIn in your area, see which associates are connected with them, and then send a direct message to candidates you’re interested in. You know if they’re connected to a recruiter they’re likely in the market for a new job. Now you have a free pool of candidates without paying a recruiter.

That’s how recruiters are finding me I believe… they see I have connections to other recruiters and they contact me directly

Lastly, i got really upset recently with a firm that advertised a remote position and mentioned it several times in the job description ad. At the interview they said they don’t like WFH and prefer you in the office. I said no to a second interview. They did it clearly to get more people to apply. Not saying you do that, but if you do, you’ll struggle to get candidates. Best is to offer hybrid options and mention how you can help candidates develop certain skills

Hi recruiters!
I recently quit my job at a big tech company with good name for a better job at a younger but still famous tech company. Now, 3 months later I’m not sure that the new role is as interesting as they sold it to me. I know I have to give it sometime and talk to my manager (I have shared my concerns with him), but precisely because of his answers, now I’m considering looking for another job. I truly want to be in a role with lots of impact. How should I apply to jobs? Cont in comment
