On the same boat here.. my hesitation is that even with a nutritionist where do I get healthy choices from?
Most colleges athletes have access to them at school... if you have any friends who played sports, you can ask for their opinion
I’d say it’s helpful if you don’t know a ton about nutrition to begin with but if you know what you shouldn’t be eating but eat it anyway, it won’t help you. Also you have to be careful some coaches don’t have real degrees and simply took an online six week certification. I’d find someone you hang out with a lot, coworker/colleague that is very fit and ask them for some guidance and accountability
I spent $1200 on one over the course of a year, I don’t regret it. I learned beyond what I googled myself, and I took a nutrition course in college, it’s more to it than “what to eat"
Use MyFitnessPal, it’s free, be meticulous about recording your foods, and once you get in the habit, it’s relatively easy to lose weight by setting goals. Just have to do it for two weeks and then it’s a habit. All about that calorie deficit - you can still eat how you want. (I mean, don’t eat 72 cookies a day, but eat normally)
Depends what you want it for. Nutrition in conjunction with exercise is very different that nutrition without. If you plan to work out as well, I strongly recommend RP Nutrition. Good meal plan, good accountability. Check out the results on Instagram.
Yeah I already work out 3-5 times per week and walk every day. Not loosing any weight. So it’s food that’s my problem
would recommend reading the book Deep Nutrition. covers all aspects of food very thoroughly, as the title suggests, along with a lot of actionable advice
Have you tried some of the basics like portion control? On the road, I will rarely finish a meal, half a burger, quarter of whatever ridiculous steak we just ordered, half the pizza, etc. That, and always ordering a salad, has helped me a lot. I hate wasting the food, but my health comes first.
