Anyone used a professional MBA admissions counseling service? Feel like they'd be extremely useful but a ~$8000 price tag (for 4 schools) is outrageous.

Yes - used one and it was great! More from a process management and quality check perspective. Someone to give honest feedback etc. ended up at Wharton with a $50k scholarship - might have gotten in without but figure that the 5k I dropped on the counselor was worth it since I got extra funding

like

Had a friend do it for Columbia MBA. He said it was so so. Mainly several iterations of feedback on essay. It’s a catch 22. If you get in you don’t know if the service helped. If you don’t use it and don’t get in then hard to say if the service would have helped

I used it and it was worth it. You do need to get a good consultant though. You can schedule free consultations - speak with 3-5 and decide who you want. Consider their background, schools they know well, specialties they understand better (eg marketing vs finance) etc. Also my sister used my materials (school packs, apps, etc) when she was applying; she got in too so def a positive ROI

Some of my coworkers used one and swear by it. I had 690 and solid experience. I did all of the applications myself w no coaching, attended a program in 10-20 ranking range and loved it. Wonder if I could have cracked top 10 w a paid coach. If I were doing it again, I’d hire some help

8000 is way too high

If recently laid off, waiting to hear back from schools on MBA admissions, do I need to file any paperwork with USCIS before issuance of I-20. I know I have 60 days to change status from H1B to F-1. Just got off the phone with a recruiter who asked me what year I graduated from my MBA program and college and effectively told me I was too old for the role. I do have the 1 year of experience they asked for in the job in question. It's just that I have all this other experience in things unrelated to the role or things I want to deemphasize in my next role. Is there anything I can do? I only list the last 8 years of experience (as it's most relevant) and don't have my graduation years listed.

So I’m thinking of taking a pharmacy tech course at my local community college. I already work in healthcare on the admin side (authorizations, front desk etc) & looking to get a certification that’s quick & don’t have to go back to school. How is it being a tech in the hospital setting? What other paths are there for techs? How much can you make? Or are there any other short certifications that would make more money?

Anyone have any experience with working full time and completing a full-time MBA? Is it possible? If so, any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

I want to get my PhD, but all of the programs I want require a full time commitment for the first year. What are my options? Is a sabbatical an option? Or would I have to straight up resign? Utilization notwithstanding (I’m a GPS consultant)…is it possible to go part time? I completed my master’s full time while a full time Deloitte consultant. I know school can be done, but for PhDs they usually want you to also work as a TA. Additionally, I am not interested in online programs.

I've been in PeopleOps (mostly focused on TA Ops) for over 9 years now. I just found out that I passed the 4th CPA exam!!! I want to reward myself with (among other things) a nicer laptop bag. I can barely close my car door while carrying a laptop bag, lunch, water bottle, coffee mug, etc. in to work every day. I want to splurge but not too much (probably not more than $200). Can anyone recommend a cute and VERY spacious bag? I’ve been too busy studying on top of everything else I have to do in life to keep track of what is “in.” Any suggestions?
