Cool thanks for your input
No.
Yes - used one and it was great! More from a process management and quality check perspective. Someone to give honest feedback etc. ended up at Wharton with a $50k scholarship - might have gotten in without but figure that the 5k I dropped on the counselor was worth it since I got extra funding
Had a friend do it for Columbia MBA. He said it was so so. Mainly several iterations of feedback on essay. It’s a catch 22. If you get in you don’t know if the service helped. If you don’t use it and don’t get in then hard to say if the service would have helped
I used it and it was worth it. You do need to get a good consultant though. You can schedule free consultations - speak with 3-5 and decide who you want. Consider their background, schools they know well, specialties they understand better (eg marketing vs finance) etc. Also my sister used my materials (school packs, apps, etc) when she was applying; she got in too so def a positive ROI
Some of my coworkers used one and swear by it. I had 690 and solid experience. I did all of the applications myself w no coaching, attended a program in 10-20 ranking range and loved it. Wonder if I could have cracked top 10 w a paid coach. If I were doing it again, I’d hire some help
