Anyone using meal kit delivery services right now? I would love to hear about your experience and whether you think it's worth it. I'm trying to reduce the amount of takeout I've been eating!

I’ve been using Home Chef and my bf and I absolutely love it! It’s a little more expensive than just grocery shopping, but we’ve tried so many recipes we never would have attempted on our own. We’ve had 5 boxes delivered (15 recipes) and there has only been 1 that I didn’t really like. The ingredients are fresh and the instructions are simple to follow. I highly recommend! I can also give you a code for $35 off your first box if you’re interested 😊
We also tried Blue Apron, but we’re not nearly as impressed. Many of the options sell out before you can make selections. The pictures on the website look good, but when we made them the recipes were kind of all over the place and had a lot going on in the dish. We didn’t love any of the meals we made, but that may have just been a bad box.

Let me know if you need any more info!

Everyplate has been one of the best things about this whole quarantine period. It's from the same company as HelloFresh, and the meals have been delicious with no real complaints.

Regular pricing still only comes out in total to around $6/serving (receive 3 recipes each week so 6 servings in total). If you have a discount it's even cheaper, but the regular pricing is a great deal compared to other services. DM me if you want a discount.

I haven’t actually gotten it yet but just signed up for hello fresh because they have a $60 off deal right now. You end up paying about $5/serving on the 3 meals for 2 people package which I think seems worth it.

I did this today too.

Love Home Chef.

We do hello fresh, I think it’s worth it. $10/person per meal. It mixes things up enough that we are making ourselves a different type of food. I found when I’d go grocery shopping for all my meals I tended to just do the same things over and over. It’s not the cheapest route but I think it’s worth it

I’ve been doing blue apron and really enjoying it since I have so much more time to cook now. I think I have 5 free boxes to give away. Post your email or dm me if you’d like one!

We do blue apron. Yes, we could cook on our own cheaper, but blue apron gives you a lot of single servings of things that are only sold in larger formats and expire before you'd use more than those two single servings. When we replicate their meals from a grocery, it's more expensive because of how many things come in jars $3-$5 but are moldy next time we open them.

I’ve been doing hello fresh since this whole thing started - it has pretty good options and was pretty affordable at first (there were consistently delivery delays which made my next weeks delivery half off) - I’ve liked every meal I’ve made from it so far

I just have Whole Foods delivered haha

Green Chef family plan. It’s two pescatarian dinners for four of us and leftovers. Totally worth the cost of $68 a week, and I can make the teens cook it with the explicit recipes and directions that are provided.

I've used Hello Fresh and Dinnerly. Dinnerly is cheap but the food is boring
Everything I've had from Hello Fresh is delicious. I'm too cheap to do it regularly but they have killer deals for new users.

like

Dinnerly is definitely attractive for the price! I've heard about Everyplate too, which is from the same company as Hello Fresh. Agreed not sure if I can justify Hello Fresh regularly after the intro deals run out

I used to do Sun Basket and absolutely loved it. Delicious food, easy to put together, healthy but not boring. It is cheaper to shop and come up with your own recipes, but it’s a great way to get more into cooking on your own and be healthier as you have control over what you put into each dish.

They offer coupons frequently to try it for a few weeks, you could likely get a cheaper trial at a few companies and have enough food for a few months because there are so many choices!

Every plate is cheaper (a lot) but more like a box of groceries than organized meal kits

like

It only takes a minute or two to sort out the groceries in the box by recipe, so it's not a huge issue when you take into account the cost savings and less plastic packaging.

We’re doing daily harvest. It’s been a great breakfast/ lunch option. Not exactly a meal “kit” but would highly recommend.

Also meant to add, each container for the lattes comes with 3 pods (for 3 separate drinks). I didn’t realize that initially and was pleasantly surprised.

We love home chef. They’ve expanded their menu to have around 10 or more options each week. The recipes are normally 30 minutes or less and no more than 6-8 ingredients. They have oven and grill ready recipes and always a variety or protein to choose from. I have a free box I can send you if you message me.

My group hired a client's son a few months ago and he is currently staffed on my project. I am a new Manager, he is an analyst.

He frequently shows up at the end of the day and says that he has not completed the work that was assigned to him because he wasn't in the mood for it today and would deal with it once he's gotten into the "flow". I have escalated this previously and the director was more concerned about making him feel bad rather the fact that I keep having to pick up his slack.
