During interview I was speaking to the hiring manager. Felt interview was going well. He seemed impressed by my answers, excited by my skills, and even gave me a tour of the office. At the end, he asked about my home life. When I spoke of my 3 young kiddos, the manager got a little taken back and replied Oh you have children? I said yes ages 3, 5, and 7. He then proceeded to ask me about daycare arrangements and if I can be reliable. Red flag as his demeanor changed and made me feel unworthy.

Anyone have any insight on how I can make myself more appealing for a consulting role at a Big 4 or MBB?

Background: 27 Afro Latino Male recently graduated from a State School with a Master’s Degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. After undergrad I worked at McKinsey for 2 years as an EA and was urged to get my graduate degree to pursue consulting. Now 1 year removed from graduation, I’m still having a hard time landing at a good firm. Would having orgs like PP and NAACP hurt me?

Received an offer for a data strategy manager role in PE with base at $135K, 20% target bonus, RRSP match at 100%. Base is same as my current role but the bonus and RRSP match are significantly higher which will make my total comp at 175K. Thoughts on the offer? I have 7 YOE in consulting.

Any advice for those that have left an implementation role in consulting and gone into Sales? Things you wish you had known before, any “ah ha” moments to be aware, sales politics etc. Any advice is much appreciated 🙏

I am an entry level nuclear engineer at an established nucl co. (been w them for 1.5y) and feel like I’m being underpaid for my role (73k/y). I was just contacted about interviewing for an entry level technician role at a different co., which compared to an engineer would be a step down imo. However, this role pays over 5k what I’m currently making (~79k/y). Do I ask for a raise to match this or consider the other role? Or Is there a different solution here?

Still waiting on a written offer but sounds like I will be offered a manager role (current senior) in a different SL. I’m expecting right (25 weeks). I applied for the role in October and it took them months to get the okay to have the role remote, I didn’t think it would happen. Did interviews last week. When do I say I’m expecting? I was planning on waiting until after the written offer? Thoughts?

The upgrad one is pricey yes, but I see folks who have done it and got a DS role.

Feeling a bit overwhelmed in my new role. Came from an old school way of EA supporting where technology tools where sparse and the environment was more paper driven and face to face contact. I have moved to a new EA role with less personal contact and highly digital. Most of the software used I am not familiar with completely foreign to me. What do I do?
