I am teaching as an adjunct at my alma mater. I am focusing a class on life as an attorney and the different roles your substantive background can bring you to and tips/tricks/antidotes for survival. What are the things you wish someone told you as a 2L or 3L about life and law and your practice? Things to focus on or ignore? Lessons learned the hard way? Would love to crowd source bullets on this outside of my own experience (and my guest speakers who are unfortunately all male except for 1).
Anybody curious how Sanders still hasn’t learned his lesson about creating divisions inside the party and trash-talking female candidates?
Mistakes are the learned lessons to a better career. But every time I have made a mistake, it seems like it is the end of the world. I want to hear stories...of a time where you made a mistake and your superiors did not freak out, but used it as a lesson for you. does that exist anywhere?

I have always taught my students that life is a path of actions and consequences that are a result of those prior actions; positive actions positive consequences, negative actions negative consequences. I change the vocabulary from "I'm giving you a ___" to "You're earning a ___ with your actions." I start my first day with this lesson and have frequent reminders of this throughout the year. This has always been a successful strategy.
Does the workload lesson over time, or do you just get used to the longer hours? Hmmmm...

I don’t mind paying to learn either but just wanted know if I’m going pay should I still use code academy or something else?

Any thoughts on praying in the office? I’m in the London office and because of some confident bothers, we were able to use conference rooms to pray. Now in my new firm, I’m the only Muslim and so when I do go in, find it hard to find a place. I don’t want to announce it and make a big deal, just want to pray quietly, otherwise I’d have to save my salah for home. WFH has changed this in such a good way but wanted to see if anyone has similar experience or tips?
Joining a company based in CA but starting in TX remotely, will I need to pay CA tax for my 1st paycheck (including the bonus)?

Payback Clauses!! I received a sign-on bonus and was informed that if I left the company prior to 18 months I would have to pay back X% of my sign-on bonus. I recently accepted a new job and have flexibility as to when I put in my 2 week notice. If my 18 month anniversary date is on December 8th, can I put in my two week notice before this date with the understanding that my last day would fall after this date, or would it be safest to put in my 2 week notice after my 18 month anniversary date?
Interview/writing test question: is it inappropriate to point out a spelling error in the materials provided for a writing test? The material is definitely client-facing for a current client and is for a 2021 initiative. Not detrimental, but they’ve emphasized wanting someone with attn to detail
