Anyone who did their MBA part time while on h1b willing to share their experience?

It’s a shitty it depends answer for everything - - no idea how much your regular job is, but if you work 40-50 hours, it’s fine, fairly manageable. It’s b school, the classes may be a change of pace, and aren’t definitely hard. Your social life will probably suffer the most as most of your free time will go into school - depending you follow typical pace of 2.5-3 years, you’ll spend about 6-8 hours in classes a week, another 6-8 hours in homework and other b school stuff, it varies on how diligent a student you are. How much you get involved etc - worth it is very dependent on what you’re looking for, if you want to change careers and go big on recruiting, absolutely not. If you want a credential and make an incremental change, then most likely. Not to mention cost factors etc. - happy to talk more, just dm me

- 0 impact; I mean your visa issue is fully independent of a part time degree. It’ll be the same for recruiting or anything else, so it’s just a visa thing. Important note, you won’t be able to switch to f1 at any point even if you have a full time course load or whatever. Most schools have a very hard line between moving from part time to full time, and I’ve never actually seen anyone even anecdotally be able to do it. - Again, your visa and degree are not correlated. Let’s say you recruit for industry x or y, it’s upto that industry that they take you or sponsor you, nothing to do with visa. Also, no OPT or anything so you can assume no internships or any of that. In general, you’re a part time student, you need to maintain your requirements of visa independently through employers. - answered in different post, it depends - I guess just be aware your visa is on you and school won’t do anything to help because it’s not the same type of program. If you get fired for example, it’s on you to get a visa, not on them and they won’t make much headway.

Yes, hence me answering this Age is irrelevant, career step and what you want matters most

How easy/difficult it is to manage between work and MBA ? Expected number of hours per week on Average ? Is part time MBA worth it?

like

What specifically are you trying to understand ? .

How did it impact your career with the visa issue always in the background? Did you change your career path post MBA? Any particular visa issues with that? Was the ROI of part time MBA worth it? Anything to keep in mind while doing the program on an H1B visa?

Looking for some MBA advice. Went to Indiana U and had mediocre GPA due to mental health struggles. Got medicated and saw a therapist and got a 4.0 my last semester. But still ended with 3.2 gpa. I am a good standardized test taker and am confident I can do well on GRE/GMAT. Given my poor undergrad GPA, am I a non-starter for an M7 MBA? Looking to improve myself as an applicant over the next year or so by seeking out leadership opps within and outside the firm. Any advice is appreciated!

Got an intracompany transfer offer for US and Australia - where should I head? Longterm goal: live in the US and work in tech (esp. Google). US offer: L1B visa, not transferable to other companies. I don’t own a car as I don’t need it on a daily basis and where I leave there is not a big need for it. I normally rent a car 2-4 days a month on the weekends which is much cheaper. My credit cards provide me with insurance for damage on the car but not for liability, I was thinking that getting a non-owners insurance would be better/cheaper than pay one at the rental Company every time. Any advice on this? Is it worth it? Any non-owner insurance recommendations? Thanks!!
