Anyone who started during covid also feeling super vexed about never having been to the office? Had two jobs since pandemic started (law firm and now consulting) and been fully remote for both. I guess I’m in the minority but I love WFH. No commute, no business attire, can make lunch in my own kitchen…pretty sweet imho

Totally agree, turned down industry offers out of undergrad for consulting because I accounted for the travel and related stuff as my compensation. Giving up 20 $100 per diems per month does not make this as attractive for me especially when this would mean +20% TC and lower living expenses on my end. 🥺

I agree, my whole working career (of 1 year) has been in my bedroom at my parents house. Sure there are benefits but I feel like my life has reverted more so to high school days than advancing past college days. I also joined consulting, in part, to be at client sites, build relations, and rack up some sweet statuses and airline miles (non wage-based financial incentives of the industry) but these are obviously not in play

We’ve been allowed to go in the offices if we want to for a while now, interesting that you all are not. We even have travel projects ramping back up at this point

I can go to the office, and have. The difference is that when I go into the EY Boston office there is maybe 20 people on the entire floor. Half of which are in my class year. Not much of an opportunity to meet people and my engagement teams are still remote so all the internal meetings are still over the phone

I totally get what you are experiencing. I was onboarded remotely and have been working at Gartner for over a year. I have still yet to even see the office - in that sense I sometimes feel like I’m working for a company I’ve never met. Regardless, while WFH has its perks a lot of companies will be focusing on flexibility to choose going forward.

Anyone gotten rhinoplasty? I was getting consults before the pandemic and chickened out bc I’m terrified of dying in surgery for a cosmetic procedure. But I’m considering it again bc I hate how I look in photos and bc we’re all wfh and I’ve never met my colleagues in person so no one would know. Anyone had this done? Was it worth it? Any issues?

I’ve been out of consulting for 2 years. I went to company A (was a series E startup but has since went public). I left company A for company B about 3 month ago. I had a job I liked and it was relatively easy at company A but I felt like it wasn’t pushing me at all so I left.
