Anyone who told they were getting promoted to senior but had the promotion rescinded last minute? How was the conversation like?

I mean the CPA license is a totally valid reason for a promotion to be rescinded. You had to know it was coming.

like

This happens?! If so that’s horrible.

like

Yea if you don’t pass by August you don’t get the promotion, shouldn’t be a surprise since that the condition for the promotion

like

Does this happen?

Yes it happened. I knew 2. One got promoted to manager and another one got promoted to senior then rescinded after all those announcements because of CPA exam/license issues.

On a fast track for promotion, and also have a good standing/reputation already within my MM bank so far. I also have a complicated visa situation that my bank is handling.
Not closed off but not really set on PE or anything.
Is it still worth starting fresh and likely a delayed promo at an EB?

Any struggling paralegals here? Do you feel like your financial situation is affecting your productivity at work? I like the work I do but the pay really sucks. I feel like the fear of not being able to pay some bills on time is affecting my productivity. I’ve asked for a raise but that may not still cut it, and idk if that will go through or not.

What does the progression track look like for post-mba consultants at MBB? Specifically, are there notable differences in promotion timing amongst the firms? I’ve noticed on LinkedIn that several BCGers have reached principal level in 3.5 years (2 as consultant, 1.5 as PL) whereas it seems to take a minimum of 4 years but sometimes even 5 for McK to reach AP level (which I believe is the equivalent?) Is this an accurate assessment?

I am a Web Developer based in Grand Rapids, MI. My primary focus is Magento development and managing / building the 7 sites my company owns. I do front and back-end development. I got a raise from $12.50 an hour as an intern to $22 an hour 6 months before I got my degree. I was happy with this raise initially. A year later, I am 6 months out of my degree and have 3 years of experience at this company. They gave me a 5% raise which puts me a $24 an hour. Is this fair considering I got my degree.

Been offered a new position with another company recently, paying about $15,000 more per year. The job advertisement has stated that it’s a ghd rod work from home/office role which is handy and very similar to what my current company is allowing us to do.

However the contract has nothing in it stating working home is even an option. With fuel prices the way they are at the moment, plus mileage on my car, the fortnightly raise is only equivalent to approx $140 per week.

Is it worth it?

Taking a poll: 1) would you take a slight pay cut to go from litigation (ID) to business transactional work? Or 2) would you take a $70k raise to stay in litigation , but doing more complex litigation? The end goal is to eventually go in house for an entertainment company or work at an entertainment firm.

At this point, you’ve only been practicing for two years.

I’m a strategist making 100k at a brand consultancy. I started a little over a year ago at 75k and they gave me a raise a few months ago to better reflect my responsibilities/contribution. Now I’m expecting a promotion to senior strategist next month and am wondering if I should ask for a raise alongside the title change? I know my last one was generous, but shouldn’t a title bump come with a little more as well? I’m trying to figure out how to navigate this, don’t want to seem greedy.

Have any of you taken "low bono" clients while working at a firm? I want to take on a low bono client or two but not sure who would get the money. This is a contract opportunity through a non profit so I'm assuming a 1099 will be issued. The per hour rate is significantly less than my billable rate. I would (obviously) like the money but my real objective is just getting experience/networking since I recently moved to a new state and don't have clients of my own.
