How does one most effectively make the transition into management from an Individual Contributor?

I've been an individual contributor for 4 years in Tech, have 8 years of experience total. I'm finding it difficult to make the management transition despite having management experience, performing beyond expectations, and having a genuine passion for enablement and development.

I heard they don’t do a good job of setting you up with a career after the program.

As a junior, a lot of peers from my generation immediately got internships at top agencies, while I had to start at a very small and un-creative agency.

At the time, it felt very frustrating, like I was running behind. But in hindsight, it was a blessing in disguise. I got a lot of responsibility very fast and I could develop my skills gradually, without being burned. I’m sure this first job helped me enormously later on in my career.

Has any of your employer used PIP as a way to fire you? I'm a female POC just getting started in my entry level role and my company does not have a history of using PIP on their associate, but after I gave their academy training a bad review in the survey, my manager is trying to put my on a PIP while the people who started out at the same time are not on it. I'm 9 weeks in my current SDR position, been doing 100 dials a day and got 2 books 1 occur so far.

I just had the SVP of Product during our company meeting, tell the whole organization that I'm taking on the complete replacement of a legacy application (I can't even impress upon you how herculean this would be). It's an app I'm intimately familiar with. There was no strategy provided explaining "why," it should be replaced and I was not told about this by said SVP or my boss, prior to the meeting. I'm beyond incensed and overwhelmed. What would you do?
